Abhishek Banerjee never anticipated the role of 'Hathoda Tyagi' in 'Paatal Lok' web series to be such a smash hit, given the character's lack of dialogue and limited screen time.
However, he recalls "some magic" being produced while filming, not only because of the controlled wrath he managed to communicate, but also because of the way the series was made.
"I fell completely in love with the role, and somewhere in the back of my mind, I knew it had the potential to change my life. The actor who was recently seen in Keith Gomes's iPhone short 'Sex, Likes, and Stories,' in which he plays the character of 'Chokra Boy,' who comes from a simple social and economic background and uses social media to pretend to be someone else and live a completely different life. Banerjee acknowledges that the character is diametrically opposed to himself.

The actor, who is famous for conducting considerable study before playing a character, believes that doing so is always a good idea and helps to bring forth different colours and nuances. Even when he is not preparing for a part, he travels, takes copious notes, and meets new people.
"To form a character in your mind you need to understand space and their backgrounds. Travelling not only allows you to meet new people but also learn about different places, distinct cultures, and diverse societal norms."

"It is essential that the audience feels exactly what you are trying to portray for them to emotionally connect with the scene, and training in theatre goes a long way in ensuring that."
