After making her OTT debut with Gehrayiaan last year, Deepika Padukone is now prepared to delve deeper into the digital realm. The actor is reportedly in talks for a web project that revolves around Indian drug mafia culture.
The star is enthusiastic about the project and is "seeing how it fits in her schedule," according to a Hindustan Times story. "Deepika is currently in conversation with a streaming giant for a mega-action thriller," a source told the publication.
It further added, ¡°She has seen the power and the reach of the OTT medium, and is eager to explore it further.¡± Sharing the details, the source asserted, ¡°It¡¯s a project for Netflix, and will revolve around the drug mafia culture in India, told from a female perspective. It is a very interesting project and will involve a lot of action and intense sequences. She is eager to sign the project and wants to sign it. However, at the moment, she is checking her schedule.¡±
The report also mentioned, ¡°If she signs the dotted line, they plan to start shooting early next year.¡±
Deepika¡¯s OTT Debut
The actress starred in Gehraiyaan which according to the synopsis is about how ¡°The life of Alisha, a thirty-year-old yoga instructor, is usurped by the entry of her cousin Tia's fiance, Zain. With a troubled past in common, Alisha and Zain find solace and angst in each other.¡±
Regarding her projects, Deepika is presently anticipating the release of Fighter. The forthcoming aerial action movie, which is helmed by Siddharth Anand, also features Hrithik Roshan and Anil Kapoor.
Fighter's planned September 30, 2022, release date was postponed due to production hold-ups brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. The movie is slated to open in theaters on January 25, 2024, which falls over Republic Day weekend.
