Aamir Khan Announces A 'Year And A Half' Break From Acting To Focus On His Family
Aamir Khan said it is time he took some time off, possibly a year and a half, to prioritize his family over his acting career after devoting the last 35 years of his life to films.
Most of us are obsessed with the concept of 'hustle culture, completely overlooking the fact that work-life balance is important too.
Bollywood actor Aamir Khan said it is time he took some time off, possibly a year and a half, to prioritize his family over his acting career after devoting the last 35 years of his life to films.
The actor said he was supposed to start preparing for a film called Champions following the release of Laal Singh Chaddha.
The official Hindi adaptation of the Hollywood classic 'Forrest Gump'¡ªLaal Singh Chaddha, opened to mixed reviews and poor box office collections.
"When I am doing a film as an actor, I get so lost in that, that nothing else happens in my life, which is why I decided to take a break. I was supposed to do a film called 'Champions' after 'Laal Singh¡.' It's a wonderful script, a beautiful story. It's a very heartwarming and lovely film, but I want to take a break. I want to be with my family, my mom, and my kids," Aamir said.
The actor, who was recently in the capital, spoke at a chat session at his childhood friend's event.
He added that his "single-minded" focus on his career had not been fair to him or his loved ones.
Recently, Aamir's mother, Zeenat Hussain, was admitted to a Mumbai hospital after reportedly suffering a heart attack last month.
"I feel like I have been working for 35 years, and I have been single-mindedly focused on my work¡ And I feel it's unfair to the people close to me. It's not fair to me also in many ways. This is the time for me¡ to experience life differently," the 57-year-old star said.
He said this would be the "first time" he would not be working as an actor.
"I'm looking forward to the next year, a year and a half in which I'm not actually working as an actor for the first time."
The actor will, however, continue to be attached to "Champions" in the capacity of a producer. He has previously backed films such as Lagaan, Peepli Live, Delhi Belly, Dangal, and Laal Singh Chaddha.
"I'll work as a producer on 'Champions' because I believe in the film. I'll approach other actors now to see if they are interested in the role I was hoping to do. I'm at that stage where I want to enjoy my relationships," he added.
Champions will be co-produced by Aamir Khan Productions, Sony Pictures International Productions, India, and 200NotOut Productions.
Meanwhile, Aamir will next be seen in a cameo in Revathy's Salaam Venky starring Kajol.
