In a traditional and mesmerising Meitei wedding, Bollywood actors Randeep Hooda and Lin Laishram got married on 29th November. The duo tied the knot at Chumthang Sanapung in Manipur¡¯s Imphal. The beautiful bride was dressed in a Potloi, a cylindrical skirt made of thick fabric with heavily starched threads to keep it in place. While generally confused with bamboo it's the starch that keeps the skirt in place. It is often ornamented with satin and velvet material, as well as gems and glitter that are carefully handcrafted.

The groom's attire consisted of a white cotton dhoti, a kurta, and a Kokyet (a cloth wrapped around the head). White in their attire is considered a sacred colour that is used in Meitei weddings with only a few younger generations wearing other colours now.

Interestingly, a garland which was handmade by Lin out of Kundo (a local variant of jasmine) holds great significance as it has to be preserved by the couple for a lifetime.
What did Randeep say about his marriage with Lin?
Talking to ANI ahead of his wedding, the Highway actor expressed, ¡°It feels very good. I felt that it was only respectful to come and marry in the bride's tradition. However, I have heard that in Meitei love marriages, the groom has to sit for a very long time. So, that's something but I am looking forward to the ceremony and traditions. I want to experience my life partner's culture. That's why I am here.¡±
