Akshaye Khanna Joins Ajay Devgn And Tabu In 'Drishyam 2'; Sheds Light On His Character
Akshay Khanna talks about his character in Drishyam 2.
Actor Akshaye Khanna, who recently came on board Ajay Devgn's upcoming crime thriller 'Drishyam 2', has opened up about his character in the film. The actor, who has already completed the first schedule of the Abhishek Pathak directorial, is playing a key role in the sequel of Drishyam, released in 2015. The actor, who has entertained his fans with a wide range of characters as an actor ever since stepping into the world of films, will be seen locking horns with Ajay Devgn in the much-anticipated movie starring Tabu in the lead role.
Talking about the Drishyam franchise and his character in the upcoming flick, Akshaye Khanna said, "I have seen the first one, but not the second. Our film follows the basic premise of Drishyam 2, but the character that I am playing is not there in it. It¡¯s a fresh character, and that makes it more interesting for me. It¡¯s always nicer to do something that is written originally."
"Yes, it is fun to do a take on somebody else¡¯s role, too, but I prefer it this way. I have played characters in uniform before, but this character is intriguing in the way that he thinks. His modus-operandi is highly intellectual and is a great play-off against Vijay Salgaonkar (Ajay¡¯s character), making them worthy adversaries,¡± the 47-year-old actor further said.
The actor has also admitted that the thriller genre is among his favourites. Akshaye Khanna's filmography is proof that he not only enjoys watching thrillers but also likes to take up roles in such films. He had earlier starred in thriller movies - Humraaz (2002), Naqaab (2007), Race (2008) and Ittefaq (2017).
Drishyam 2 will also mark Akshaye Khanna's reunion with actor Ajay Devgn, who had earlier shared screen space in movies like Deewangee (2002) and Aakrosh (2010) in the past. ¡°We have a nice, casual, fun relationship. Whenever we have worked together, we have made good films. Deewangee was a commercial success, Aakrosh was not, but still, it was a quality film. It¡¯s something that has stood the test of time. It¡¯s a good history to share," Akshaye Khanna said about his equation with Ajay Devgn during an interview with ETimes.
Meanwhile, Akshaye Khanna is the only new addition to the Drishyam sequel, while Tabu, Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta, and Mrunal Jadhav will reprise their roles in the film.
