The phenomenal actor, who is one of the most underrated ones in Bollywood, has slowly been climbing on top of the game with his stellar performances.

Akshaye Khanna, ladies and gentlemen, this man has always been around. His movies may or may not have revolved around just him but his characters have always left a lasting impression.

Here's taking a look at the man who deserves far more credit for his stupendous roles in a Bollywood.

A one-of-a-kind musical that took the Hindi film industry by storm. It not only made us spot Shahid Kapoor dancing with Aishwarya Rai but also Manav Mehta aka Akshaye Khanna who gave a romantic yet uptight character to this role making us want to hate him yet understand his side of the story too.

The movie went onto become a commercial hit.

2. Humraaz

The movie that begins showing Akshaye Khanna as a romantic hero gradually has a sudden twist. Karan (Akshaye) is scheming and plotting with his girlfriend Ameesha aka Priya to kill a rich businessman.

And as the story unfolds, Karan makes his girlfriend marry Raj and later even ditches Priya. Akshaye's character slowly turns negative adding much spice to the plot line. The movie made Akshaye Khanna win the Best Villain award at IIFA.

3. Dil Chahta Hai

The movie revolves around 3 friends who are poles apart. One is ambitious, one thinks he's falling in love and one is the most mature and sorted one. Taking a break from the flimsy roles, Akshaye shows us a side no one could imagine from a young actor. In the film, Akshaye is shown falling in love with an older woman and having no inhibitions in admitting.

An artist who is head over heels with Tara played by Dimple Kapadia is one of the most honest relationships one can see for a 2001 movie. It truly is a coming-of-age film and the way Akshaye portrayed Siddharth deserves a round of applause even today.

4. Ittefaq

After a few hiccups and a little break, Akshaye Khanna arrived with a bang. Nailing the role of an investigative officer, Dev Varma is taken on board to figure out a double murder case. Also featuring Sidharth Malhotra and Sonakshi Sinha.

Socho Na Dekho Na also turned out to be one of the most popular tracks of the film but Akshaye's role takes the cake among all three.

5. Mom

It was Sridevi's last film and she lit it with her performance. But to make the movie spectacular were other heroes like Nawaz and Akshaye Khanna. The film stars Sridevi, who sets out to avenge her step-daughter's rape. Akshaye plays the role of CBI officer Matthew who is tracking Sridevi's killing spree but when the last rapist escapes, he gives Sridevi his gun to shoot him.

His role is brave yet emotional. It makes you want to pray for more such real life cops.

6, Section 375

Is there anything this man can't do. From playing a villain to a cop you admire to a lawyer who is fighting for a legit cause. Akshaye certainly does not see the budget of the film but the content and that's what matters in this time and age.

7. Race

The movie was a first suspense thriller kind in Bollywood. In every 20 mins, there was a new twist that leads to a plot change. Akshaye's character was the only one that went through multiple changes in the film.

From being a doting brother, a loving boyfriend to someone who plots his brother's death and fakes his relationship with Bipasha who is the girlfriend, Akshaye's transformation in the film keeps you on your toes at all times.

Needless to say, the movie got a bumper opening and was a commercial success, so much so that the movie turned out to be a franchise.

Akshaye Khanna definitely is the actor we need this year with meatier roles. He has been lost and found way too many times and we hope we can just get him to do exciting roles.
