'Slap Akshay Kumar And Get Rs. 10 Lakhs', Hindu Outfit Demands Ban On Pankaj Tripathi's OMG 2
As Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi starrer OMG 2 releases in theatre, a Hindu outfit in Agra demands a ban on the film.
Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi starrer Oh My God 2 has finally been released in theatres and is gaining a positive response from the audiences. Word of mouth is expected to grow stronger over the ongoing Independence Day long weekend. Also starring Yami Gautam, the film received an adult certificate from CBFC.
In the film, Akshay plays the role of ¡®Lord Shiva¡¯s messenger¡¯ and this hasn¡¯t gone down well with a lot of people.
Recently, Govind Parashar, a member of the Rashtriya Bajrang Dal announced that they would give Rs 10 lakh to anyone who will slap Akshay or paint his face black. The Hindu outfit staged a protest against the film in Agra outside Shree Talkies and demanded an immediate ban on the movie's screening.

Not just outrageous slogans, the protestors even burned Akshay Kumar¡¯s effigy.
Earlier, spiritual leader Sadhvi Ritambhara slammed the film while speaking at her ashram in Vrindavan. She who is associated with multiple Hindu organizations was heard saying, "It has happened in the past also that Hindu deities have been insulted in films. We will not tolerate any kind of playing with the Hindu faith.¡±
¡°If Bollywood continues to do this, Hindus will protest against it on the roads. Devotion to Lord Shiva is not a joke," she said.
Talking about the film¡¯s day 1 performance, trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter and wrote, ¡°#OMG2 fares much better than expected, although the numbers are severely impacted by #Gadar2 wave¡ Recorded better occupancy at prime multiplexes in evening and night shows, which should ensure solid growth over the weekend¡ Fri ? 10.26 cr. #India biz.¡±
¡°#OMG2 is heavily dependent on word of mouth and this factor will decide where it lands in the coming days¡ The #IndependenceDay holiday [on Tue] will certainly boost its biz, but it needs to sustain beyond the big holiday to establish itself." For the unversed, the film is a sequel to Kumar and Paresh Rawal¡¯s 2012 film ¡®OMG - Oh My God.¡¯
