Expressing solidarity with students of JNU, Actor Deepika Padukone reached the campus on Tuesday evening. Deepika joined students who were protesting recent violence on the campus.
At least 18 people were injured and admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). JNU Students¡¯ Union president Aishe Ghosh suffered a head injury. The JNU administration said, ¡°masked miscreants armed with sticks were roaming around, damaging property and attacking people¡°.
The Left-controlled JNUSU and the ABVP blamed each other for the violence that continued for nearly two hours.

Deepika had earlier addressed Sunday¡¯s violence at the JNU campus in an interview to NDTV. She was quoted in the interview as saying, ¡°I feel proud to see that we aren¡¯t scared to express ourselves... I think the fact that we are thinking about the country and its future.... Whatever may be our point of view, it¡¯s nice to see."
Deepika was in the capital to promote her upcoming movie Chhapaak, which is due for its release on 10th January, 2019.
