1,300 'Laal Singh Chaddha' Shows Reduced By Exhibitors Due To Empty Theatres On Friday: Report
Despite being a festive weekend, the turnout for Akshay Kumar and Aamir Khan's films has been lower than expected.
2022 has been a terrible year for Bollywood. Even highly anticipated movies like Jersey and 83 failed to draw the audience into the theatres. On August 11, the two films, Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan had a dismal opening weekend.
Despite being a festive weekend, the turnout for Akshay Kumar and Aamir Khan's films has been lower than expected.
Amid the calls to boycott both films on social media for bizarre reasons, this is another setback for the producers of these films.
The two movies fell short of making a combined opening day total of Rs. 20 crores and miserably failed to woo the audience despite the Raksha Bandhan holiday.

#LaalSinghChaddha is shockingly low on Day 1... The dull start has added to the woes of an ailing industry... Better at premium multiplexes, but mass circuits are weak... Needs to score big numbers from Fri-Sun to salvage the situation... Thu ? 12 cr. #India biz. *ALL* VERSIONS. pic.twitter.com/Wc015wWEr9

The Hindi film industry is reportedly shocked by the opening day performance of both films, leading to confusion.
As per a report in Bollywood Hungama, in response to the poor box office results of both Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan, the theater chains have voluntarily reduced the showtimes of both films.
A trade source was quoted in a Bollywood Hungama report as saying,
"Both the films were released with around 10,000 shows across the country, and neither of them warranted this sort of showcasing. Even on the opening day, the occupancy was as low as 10 to 12 people in maximum shows. Seeing the no-show, the exhibitors decided to reduce the showcasing of both the films on the second day to save up on the overheads and increase occupancy in the limited shows,"
The report claims that approximately 1300 shows of Laal Singh Chaddha and 1000 shows of Raksha Bandhan were reduced in the theatres.
The lack of an audience in the halls and no excitement for the movies has raised a red flag for the Hindi film industry.
