Why Kiran Rao Aamir Khan's audition for Laapataa Ladies?
Kiran Rao, who is happy that her film has become India's official entry for the Oscars, had earlier revealed that Aamir Khan had loved the role so much that he wanted to play it himself. She even considered him for the role. He even auditioned for the role, but she loved Ravi Kishan's audition more. She thought he was better, and so, she selected him over Aamir Khan. Furthermore, she wanted to keep the film believable and real, and so, she thought casting a star wouldn't be the right choice.

Kiran was right, after all. The audience lauded Ravi Kishan's performance in the film. So much so, that they think he shines in every scene of the film. For the unversed, he plays the role of Sub-Inspector Shyam Manohar.
