Pankaj Tripathi shared his thoughts on the A certificate awarded to "Oh My God 2" during a media interaction. Expressing his surprise, he mentioned that the film's team usually anticipates whether a movie will receive an A certification during its production.
Scheduled for an August 11 release, the highly-anticipated movie "Oh My God 2" stars Akshay Kumar, Yami Gautam, and Pankaj Tripathi in leading roles. Interestingly, this release date aligns with the launch of "Gadar 2," featuring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, setting the stage for a cinematic clash. Similar to its predecessor, "Oh My God 2" has been entangled in a web of controversies leading up to its release.
The film delves into the sensitive subject of sex education within schools. The movie casts Akshay Kumar in a unique role where his character embodies the human form of Lord Shiva. The narrative's distinctive focus has led to an A certification from the censor board, mirroring the mature themes addressed in the storyline. It's worth noting that Pankaj Tripathi, one of the film's integral actors, has expressed a sense of disappointment concerning this classification.
According to a report by DNA, Pankaj Tripathi shared his thoughts on the A certificate awarded to "Oh My God 2" during a media interaction. Expressing his surprise, he mentioned that the film's team usually anticipates whether a movie will receive an A certification during its production. He drew a parallel with "Gangs of Wasseypur," recalling that they were aware of its impending A certification. However, the scenario differed for "Oh My God 2."
He said, "Iss film ko A milna, surprise tha humare liye. Thoda malaal hua ki jis age-group ko yeh film dekhni chaiye, 12-18 saal ke, woh nahi dekh payenge (For me it was a surprise. I was a bit disappointed, as the target age group of 12-17 years old won't be able to see the film)."
Nonetheless, he did clarify that he holds no grievances against the certification process or its board members. Pankaj Tripathi remains optimistic that the censor board might introduce certain modifications, potentially leading to the establishment of a rating category between U/A and A.
