Angry Fans Outrage After India Snubs Rajamouli's 'RRR' As Official Entry To Oscars 2023
RRR U.S. distributor has chosen to run a detailed awards campaign for the action drama and is urging the 10,000 Academy members to consider voting for the movie in every category.
RRR fans are deeply disappointed after India snubs the film and nominates the Gujarati film 'Chhello Show' as India's official Oscar entry.
RRR, directed by SS Rajamouli, was released in theatres on March 25 and instantly became a massive hit. RRR earned a tonne of praise from the critics, who lauded the film's technical mastery and intriguing screenplay.
Many even demanded it is selected as India's official Oscars 2023 entry.

The jury chose the 'Chhello Show' as India's official entry. Rajamouli fans are, unsurprisingly, not happy about the fact that his magnum opus failed to make the cut.
The news disappoints those who have praised SS Rajamouli's labor of love.
India not putting RRR up for the Oscar is a shame

RRR is the only chance for India to compete in Oscars and our film federation has successfully ruined it. ?

Shame on FFI for choosing an inspired film and not an original film like #RRRMovie. How the fuck did they really think that an inspired film will bag the academy award! This is insane. People are gonna laugh at us. Well done FFI for snubbing original films like Jai Bhim and #RRR

Is there any hope for RRR?
The movie's U.S. distributor has chosen to run a detailed awards campaign for the action drama and is urging the 10,000 Academy members to consider voting for the film in every category.
As per a report in Variety, "RRR" will be submitted for best picture, director (S.S. Rajamouli), original screenplay (Rajamouli and V. Vijayendra Prasad), lead actor (for both N.T. Rama Rao Jr and Ram Charan), supporting actor (Ajay Devgn), supporting actress (Alia Bhatt), original song ("Naatu Naatu"), original score (M.M. Keeravaani), cinematography, production design, film editing, costume design, makeup and hairstyling, sound and visual effects.
"'Chhello Show' is India's official entry for Oscars 2023," FFI Secretary General Supran Sen told PTI.
According to FFI president TP Aggarwal, "Chhello Show" was unanimously chosen over films such as SS Rajamouli's "RRR," Ranbir Kapoor-led "Brahmastra: Part One Shiva," Vivek Agnihotri's "The Kashmir Files" and R Madhavan's directorial debut "Rocketry."
"The 17-member jury unanimously chose 'Chhello Show.' There were a total of 13 films in different languages, including six in Hindi ¡ª 'Brahmastra,' 'The Kashmir Files', 'Anek', 'Jhund", "Badhaai Do', and 'Rocketry' ¡ª and one each in Tamil ('Iravin Nizhal'), Telugu ('RRR'), Bengali ('Aparajito') and Gujarati ('Chhello Show') as well as few others," Aggarwal told PTI.
