In terms of ticket sales, the Vikrant Massey film got off to a slow start, but it managed to pick up some steam during the weekend. The 2002 Sabarmati Express fire in Godhra, Gujarat, served as the inspiration for Dheeraj Sarna's movie. The Sabarmati Report had the biggest opening of Vikrant's career, opening better than Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 2023 film 12th Fail. On Saturday and Sunday, however, the growth was greater in the case of 12th Fail.

The movie brought in Rs 3 crore on Sunday, a slight increase above its profits of Rs 2.1 crore on Saturday and Rs 1.25 crore on its first day of release. This brings the weekend total to Rs 6.35 crore.
Overall, The Sabarmati Report had an 38.58% Hindi Occupancy on Sunday, November 17, 2024.
PM Modi hails The Sabarmati Report
PM Modi expressed his admiration for the film, which starred Vikrant, Raashii Khanna, and Riddhi Dogra, on his official X handle. He praised the accurate portrayal of the Godhra tragedy He reposted a user's review of the film and wrote, "Well said. It is good that this truth is coming out, and that too in a way common people can see it. A fake narrative can persist only for a limited period of time. Eventually, the facts will always come out!"
The film is produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and Vikir Films Production.
