9 Celebs Who Slammed Fellow Celebs For Flaunting Vacation Pics Amid Devastating COVID Crisis
Celebrities who lashed out at their fellow celebrities for flaunting their privilege in vacation pictures from the Maldives.
One after the other, celebrities were jetting off to Maldives as if it was the new Goa. Alia Bhatt, Sara Ali Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Tiger Shroff, Disha Patani and Shradhha Kapoor are just some of the celebrities who went on a vacation as a lockdown was imposed on Maharashtra.
What's shocking is that they posted pictures on Instagram flaunting their privilege while many died of COVID-19 back home. Celebrities like Sonu Sood and Gurmeet Choudhary among others have been working tirelessly to make arrangements for patients and on the other hand, these celebs were rubbing their privilege in the faces of the poor, needy and common man.
Not only people on Twitter, here are the celebrities who lashed out at their fellow celebrities.
1. Nawazuddin Siddiqui - 'Kuch toh sharam karo'
"These entertainment celebrities posting vacation pictures at a time when the world is reeling under the worst recession. Logon ke paas khana nahin hai aur aap paise phenk rahe ho. Kuch toh sharam karo," he told Bollywood Hungama in an interview and added, "There is suffering everywhere. The cases of Covid are multiplying. Have a heart. Please don¡¯t taunt those who are suffering."
2. Amit Sadh - 'Not the time to show my privileged life'
Amit Sadh in a post on Instagram said that "I personally feel this is not the time to show my privileged life". He said this is the time to be sensitive and help each other. He announced that he was quitting social media for a while.

In response to journalist Barkha Dutt's tweet, Nikhil Trivedi called his contemporaries stupid for posting vacation photos. Absolutely. Then we r surprised at the suddenness of the backlash the movie industry receives for unrelated reasons. We r so self-absorbed & so oblivious to what's around us that we appear unempathetic. 4. Shruti Haasan - 'Throwing your privileges in people¡¯s faces'
"Glad they had a great holiday, they deserved it. I did not personally feel it was a time to go maskless in a pool. It has been a tough time for everyone and for some people much more. I think gratitude and being thankful for privileges is what is most important to know versus throwing your privileges in people¡¯s faces," she told The Quint.
5. Rohini Iyer - 'Shut up and stay home'
Celebrity manager Rohini Iyer called out the influencers and celebrities vacationing during the pandemic. "For all of you vacationing in Maldives and Goa and exotic locales, remember, it's a holiday for you. It's a bloody pandemic all over. So don't be an insensitive idiot and post pictures of your privileged life. This is not the time to boost your Instagram numbers. This is the time to step up and help or if you can't do anything, then shut up and stay home! Or stay quiet in your holiday home.. masked up. No photos. This is not Fashion Week or Kingfisher calendar time!"
6. Annu Kapoor - 'Kisi ko jalaa ke majloomon ki baddua kyun lena'
"I humbly appeal to rich and famous from all walks of life and media not to post their pictures vacationing at exotic locations while the most of the world suffers with pandemic. Kisi ko jalaa ke majloomon ki baddua kyun lena (Why should you attract curse of the downtrodden by making them jealous)?", he wrote.
7. Shobha De - 'It is the height of vulgarity'
Shobha De urged people to keep their lives private even if they are going on a holiday. "It is the height of vulgarity to flaunt those ridiculous pictures. Enjoy the Maldives by all means. You are blessed if you can get such a break in these bleak times. But do everyone a favour, keep it private."

Soon after Alia Bhatt returned from the Maldives, she announced that she would pledge to amplify COVID-19 related information. Pia Bajpiee who appears in Hindi and South Indian films took a dig at the same and wrote, "Thank you #Maldives we got some more activist today". In the wake of the coronavirus outburst, Maldives has suspended tourists travelling from India from April 27.
9. Kajal Pisal - 'When I was unwell, I would get upset looking at the vacation pictures of people'
Naagin 5 actress Kajal Pisal feels that celebrities should stop posting vacation pictures on social media.
"I feel people who are vacationing and posting pictures from the Maldives or wherever else should stop doing so. It is unnecessary; they should understand the current situation in our country. When I was unwell, I would get upset looking at the vacation pictures of people," she told TOI.
