On Koffee With Karan season 8, Aditya Roy Kapur finally opened up about getting replaced by Kartik Aaryan in Aashiqui 3. To everyone's surprise, he only had good things to say about the actor.
Aditya Roy Kapur had become an overnight star after the release of Aashiqui 2. In the role of Rahul Jayakar, he proved he is more than just good looks. He is the deadly combination of sweet, spice and everything nice. With his intense looks, he nailed the role of dil toota hua aashiq. But he won't return in the next instalment.

For the unversed, Kapur has been replaced by Kartik Aaryan, the man who has been replacing a lot of actors in sequels. Talking about it, the Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani actor only praised the actor.
¡°I think he¡¯s the perfect person to take the baton forward. There was no chance I could be in this because, in the second part, my character went for a long swim, from which he is not returning. I think it¡¯s great. I died; where will I come back now? My spirit will come back," he quipped to the host on Koffee With Karan season 8.
On this, Karan Johar joked that it would be funny to see him play a ghost haunting Kartik Aaryan for taking over his popular role.
Who is playing the female lead in Aashiqui 3?
After Kartik Aaryan and Tara Sutaria were spotted together on various occasions, rumours started to float across that they are starring together in Aashiqui 3. Some others believed that were dating.
Later, the makers of the movie, which will be helmed by Anurag Basu, had to issue a clarification on the same.
"There is no truth to any rumours pertaining to the female lead opposite Kartik Aaryan in ¡®Aashiqui 3.¡¯ The search for the perfect fit for the movie is still ongoing. We are currently in a very early stage where we are still coming up with ideas for the movie. Much like the audience, we are eagerly awaiting to finalise the female lead of the film and would love to share it with the fans as early as possible," the statement read.
The original film, which was helmed by Mahesh Bhatt, was released in 1990 by T-Series and Vishesh Films. Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal became overnight sensations with their roles in the film. The same happened in 2013 with when Aashiqui 2 directed by Mohit Suri and starring Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur was released.
