Arrest Warrant Against Kangana Ranaut If She Skips Next Hearing In Javed Akhtar Defamation Case
Kangana Ranaut hasn't attended even a single hearing in the defamation case filed against her by Javed Akhtar, who has reportedly been present for all hearings. In the hearing on Sep 14, she was once again missing. That's when Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate RR Khan said that an arrested warrant will be issued against Ranaut if she fails to appear before the court in the next hearing.
His lawyer Rizwan Siddiqui told the court, "She has been travelling a lot to promote her film and has been meeting a lot of people. So she has probably contracted Covid due to that. She has to undergo a test. I am seeking a short date."
He added that she would be present for the next hearing unless she tests positive for Covid-19.
Akthar¡¯s lawyers Jay Bharadwaj and Priya Arora questioned her continuous presence. "If she fails to appear, I will issue an arrest warrant."
Earlier this month, Kangana had sought to quash the proceedings of the defamation case which was dismissed by the Bombay High Court.
For the unversed, Akhtar had lodged a criminal complaint against Ranaut in November last year before the Andheri metropolitan magistrate. He accused Ranaut of making defamatory and baseless comments against him in television interviews. He said that it has caused damage to his reputation. He alleged that Kangana had dragged his name while referring to a "privilege club" in the industry while talking about the death of Sushant Singh Rajput in the media.
