Music Composer-Singer Bappi Lahiri Dies Due To Obstructive Sleep Apnea At The Age Of 69
Bappi Lahiri no more: The veteran singer and music composer who made disco music popular has breathed his last due to Obstructive Sleep Apnea at the age of 69.
Veteran singer and music composer Bappi Lahiri has passed away in Mumbai at the age of 69. Known for songs like Bambai Se Aaya Mera Dost, Yaar Bina Chain Kahan Re, Raat Baaki Baat Baaki and Yaad Aa Raha Hai, the singer who made disco music popular in India in the '80s and '90s breathed his last at Mumbai's CritiCare Hospital today.

Dr Deepak Namjoshi, director of the hospital, told PTI, "Lahiri had been admitted to the hospital for a month and was discharged on Monday. But his health deteriorated on Tuesday and his family called for a doctor to visit their home. He was brought to the hospital. He had multiple health issues. He died due to OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) shortly before midnight".
Bappi Lahiri had last appeared on Salman Khan's Bigg Boss 15 to promote his grandson Swastik's new song Baccha Party.
Bappi Lahiri was also admitted in hospital last year after he contracted coronavirus. His spokesperson had then said, "Despite utmost precautions, unfortunately, Mr Bappi Lahiri has tested positive for Covid 19. He is under very good and expert care at the Breach Candy Hospital. Bappi dada¡¯s family requests all those who came in contact with him in the recent past to get themselves tested as a precautionary measure."
However, he was soon discharged.

Bappi Lahiri made waves not only in India but also in Hollywood. Fondly called Bappi Da, his iconic song Jimmy Jimmy Aaja Aaja from Mithun Chakraborty starrer 1982 hit Disco Dancer has featured in 2008 Hollywood film You Don't Mess with the Zohan. His song Jhoom Jhoom Baba was used in the Hindi promotional clip of his movie Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
He holds the record for recording the most number of songs in a day. Not only that, he also has his name in the Guinness Book of World Record for recording 180 songs in 33.
