Bipasha Basu Celebrates Her Birthday In Maldives Amid Controversy, Trolls Say 'Shame On You'
Bipasha Basu is getting trolled for posting photos from her vacation in Maldives amid the raging controversy. She celebrated her 45th birthday there.
Amid escalating tensions between India and Maldives that has people including several celebrities boycotting Maldives, Bipasha Basu celebrated her birthday on Jan 7 in the same country. It is the same day when Indians were raging against the country after three ministers in the new Dr Mohamed Muizzu-led Cabinet made derogatory comments about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and India.
Bipasha Basu trolled for Maldives vacation
Amid the raging controversy, Bipasha Basu uploaded videos and photos from her visit in which she was seen flaunting her curves in a red monokini.
She was slammed for posting about the trip to Maldives amid the chaos.
"Whole of your own Indian film industry is boycotting Maldives, but you are promoting it. Shame on you guys," a social media user wrote. "Bipasha being an informed citizen and changing your next trip to Lakshadweep would be a great example for your fans," said another one. "Ok now, stop advertising/promoting Maldivian resorts after the spit that happened! Let¡¯s be more responsible towards being the best Indian nagaric," another user said. "You could afford the resort because of the fame and money that India gave you. And you don¡¯t have any responsibility in return? Boycott the country which insults you!" a comment read. "Whole of your own Indian film industry is boycotting Maldives, but you are promoting it. Shame on you guys to be a paid stooge".
While the trip was pre-planned and she visited Maldives before the controversy happened, people were upset about the photos and videos she posted on Instagram thereafter.
Meanwhile, other Indian celebrities have started a Lakshadweep campaign under hashtag #ExploreIndianIslands. From Akshay Kumar, Shilpa Shetty, Jacqueline Fernandez and Shraddha Kapoor to Amitabh Bachchan, Kangana Ranaut, Kartik Aaryanm, John Abraham and R Madhavan, Bollywood stands united to hail the beauty of Indian islands.
PM Modi visited the Union Territory of Lakshadweep on January 2 and shared several pictures, including an ¡®exhilarating experience¡¯ after he tried his hand at snorkelling. In a series of posts on X, PM Modi shared pictures of the white beaches and the pristine blue skies and the ocean, and tagged them with a message that read, ¡°For those who wish to embrace the adventurer in them, Lakshadweep has to be on your list.¡±
