After Anurag Kashyap, Canadian Filmmaker Says 'The Kashmir Files' Shouldn't Be Sent To Oscars
Canadian filmmaker Dylan Mohan Gray says The Kashmir Files shouldn't be sent as India's official entry for Oscars. He called the Vivek Agnihotri film a Hatemongering Garbage. Earlier, Anurag Kashyap had said the same.
Days after Anurag Kashyap caused a furore by saying that he hopes The Kashmir Files isn't selected as India's official entry for the Oscars, Canadian filmmaker Dylan Mohan Gray who directed Netflix's Bad Boy Billionaires: India's The King of Good Times - about the spectacular rise and fall of controversial Indian tycoon Vijay Mallya - has echoed Kashyap's thoughts.
Dylan Mohan Gray on The Kashmir files
Calling the Vivek Agnihotri directorial a "hatemongering Garbage", Dylan Mohan Gray said it would be an embracement for India if The Kashmir Files is selected as the official Oscar entry.
"Yeah, actually it¡¯s (hatemongering, revisionist) garbage of no artistic merit and will be a further embarrassment to india if ¡®selected¡¯ by the ¡®neutral¡¯ board," he wrote on Twitter.
Furthermore, he sided with Anurag Kashyap and said that the Gangs Of Wasseypur filmmaker is just trying to preserve what¡¯s left of the country¡¯s good name.
He added, "@anuragkashyap72 is just trying to preserve what¡¯s left of the country¡¯s good name #yourewelcome #KashmirFiles."
However, he thought RRR was also not a good choice for the Oscars.
"Though RRR is also vile and sadistic, so not much of a step up".
To this, a user asked, "I DONT KNOW WHICH RRR YOU WATCHED."
And the filmmaker responded, "Watched on @NetflixIndia -- basically a primitive feast of sadism, not recommended."
Yesterday, Vivek Agnihotri slammed Anurag Kashyap for saying that The Kashmir Files isn't a good choice as India's official entry for the Oscars.
He wrote on Twitter, "Important: The vicious, genocide-denier lobby of Bollywood has started their campaign against The Kashmir Files for Oscars, under the leadership of the maker of Dobaaraa (Anurag)".

He responded to Anurag Kashyap who in a recent interview had said, "India might actually have a nomination in the final five if RRR is the film they pick. I don¡¯t know what film anybody is going to pick. I hope not The Kashmir Files."
