From Monisha To Anupamaa, Rupali Ganguly Proved That She¡¯s The Unbeaten Queen Of Versatility
Monisha Sarabhai won hearts for her middle class ways and the relatability factor that it brought along. While some it was way too extreme for our taste, she did strike an unbreakable chord. Cut to 2020, Rupali took upon the role of a middle-aged Indian woman swinging between her familial responsibilities and the need to become independent.
¡®Monisha beta, yeh haila tak toh theek tha, but yeh haichi is just vernacularly middle class¡¯
Almost 18 years have passed but the Sarabhais remain an integral part of our lives. The references from the show are slipped in daily conversations and the characters are remembered frequently and fondly.
Anupamaa soon became a show that broke several records for its progressive plotline and portraying some real challenges of life with immense sensitivity and an appropriate stance.
After a hiatus of almost 7 years, Ganguly decided to take up this role and it has been nothing short of fruitful for her both personally and professionally. In an interview with ET Times, she had said, ¡°Through Anupamaa, I¡¯ve learnt that self-love is very important. Usually, women are not able to accept their own self and they are not able to love themselves.¡±
She continued, ¡°It¡¯s not like only other women do that I also sometimes think that way. This constant thinking we are not being up to the mark or are less as compared to others, criticizing ourselves all the time, putting ourselves down is not right. Thinking about others is a very good quality but you have to think about yourself first. When you start loving yourself, you will start loving others also is what I feel.¡±
Truth be told, there¡¯s a certain likeability factor that makes Rupali Ganguly stand out. The Monisha that we grew to love, stayed in our minds only because Ganguly performed it convincingly. However, it wasn¡¯t just Sarabhai V/S Sarabhai where she showcased her talent.
She was an integral part of many hit serials including shows like Sanjivani, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Parvarish and some reality shows like Bigg Boss, Zara Nach Ke Dikha among others.
Rupali Ganguly left the country stumped with her recent show Anupamaa due to a stark contrast with her earlier roles. While Sarabhai showed her goofy and frugal side, with Anupamaa she portrayed an empowered woman who eventually became an inspiration to many.
The beauty lies in the fact that she could carry out both the contrasting roles with such finesse that it becomes difficult to believe that it is in fact the same actress. Monisha showed us her innocent side whereas Anupama showed us that simplicity and compassion goes a long way.
For the uninitiated, Rupali started working at the age of 7 and is also a fabulous dancer apart from being an actor par excellence. The reason why people connect with her more is because she comes off as real and relatable. There¡¯s no starry air around her and she is humble beyond words.
Social media is often buzzing with her videos of playing with pets or interacting with the paparazzi in the sweetest manner. She makes every room shine with her presence as she exudes a vibrant and fun-loving persona. She is totally filmy and has no qualms about it. Ask her co-stars and they will confirm that there is never a dull moment with her around. Despite winning several awards and accolades, Rupali Ganguly remains down-to-earth and a girl next door.
Who wouldn't love a woman with a golden heart and impeccable acting capabilities which can make people laugh and cry along, right? Shine on, Rupali because the world is your oyster!
