Honey Singh Denies Singing 'Volume 1', Opens Up On Accusations Of Glorifying Drugs And Alcohol
In his recent interview, Honey Singh denied singing Volume 1. He also opened up on the lyrics of his songs including Dope Shope and being accused of glorifying drugs and alcohol.
Honey Singh said that it took seven doctors from across the world to treat him. Once a rage all over the nation and even abroad, Yo Yo Honey Singh made people dance to his tunes; however, suddenly, he was nowhere to be seen.
After seven years, the man finally admitted he was going through a dark phase in life and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. He used to drink 1-2 bottles of alcohol every day and thought of himself as God.
In a receny interview with Raj Shamani, he opened up about his rough phase and said,"Mujhe samjh mein nahi aa raha tha ki bimari kya hai. Bohot khatarnaak bimari hai."

In his same interview, Yo Yo Honey Singh claimed that he wasn't behind the infamous songs Volume 1 and Volume 2. When asked about it, he said, "Kaunsa gaana gaa diya maine." He said he was falsely associated with the song.

Enna vi na dope shope maareya karo... kyuki bikini mein ladki yatch pe nach rahi hai aur mai uspe bol raha hu...
Chakko chakko chakko kuch fresh nahio milna... Maine ek mazak kiya hai Chakko chakko chakko first hand nahio milna. Uske khilaaf protest hue."

He also denied singing the controversial song Balatkari. "Uspe bhi mere upar case hua. Main kabhi bola nahi. Agar bolta toh baat vahin ruk jaati," he said.
Often accused of misogynist lyrics and making songs on drugs and alcohol that are polluting the minds of youth, Honey Singh in his defense said, "Sun rahi hai janta."
"Maine ladkiyan dekhi hain charas bharti hui in 2009 in Delhi. Main dilli aata tha vo charas bhar rahi hoti thi. That's why I wrote the song, 'Enna vi na dope shope maareya karo'. Main uss ladki ko mana kar raha hun ki dope shope mat kar," he said and added that people protested against it.

He gave examples of songs like Beedi Jalaile, Kundi Mat Khadkao Raja and many others and said, "Agar isko aap galat le rahe ho toh aap galat ho mai galat nahi hun."
He also mentioned the lyrics of song Dekha Ek Khwab Toh Ye Silsile Hue. "Female singer in the song says, 'Phool bhi ho darmiyaan to faasle hue'. Ladki keh rahi hai ki mujhse itna chipak ja ki phool bhi na aaye beech mein... kya hai ye?"
Talking about Beedi Jalaile, he said, "Among 400 men, a woman is dancing in the song singing, 'Beedi jalai le jigar se piya... Jigar maa badi aag hai'. Sirf soch ki baat hai ye."
He also talked about the song Rukmani Rukmani and mentions the lyrics that say, 'Baahon mein hain baanhen daale.. Meethi baate hone lagi... Khatiya bhi dheere dheere... Khat khat hone lagi."
He said he has grown up listening to these songs and was hugely inspired by Gulzar and AR Rahman.
