What is the controversy between Divya Khossla and Karan Johar-Alia Bhatt? Jigra Vs Savi fiasco explained
Over the past few days, Divya Khossla hurled several accusations at Alia Bhatt and Jigra. While the Brahmastra actress hasn¡¯t reacted, her mentor Karan Johar shared several cryptic posts. Here¡¯s everything you need to know about this controversy.
Alia Bhatt¡¯s recently released film Jigra has been the actress¡¯ worst opener ever since her debut. As if the box office collections weren¡¯t enough saddening, producer Bhushan Kumar¡¯s wife Divya Khossla took to Instagram and publicly slammed Bhatt for faking box numbers inviting cryptic reactions from film-maker Karan Johar.
What is the origin of the Divya Khossla-fueled Jigra Vs Savi fiasco?
The plot is the problem and root of all mayhem. The story of Jigra is very similar to Divya's film, Savi which was released earlier this year. Divya¡¯s team have infamously alleged that Savi¡¯s producer Mahesh Bhatt acquired the rights to the American film The Next Three Days for Rs 4 crore when he was still working with his now-estranged brother, Mukesh Bhatt.
It is being said that Alia Bhatt was completely aware of the remake rights but as soon as the brothers had a fallout, she ¡°gave the screenplay to another production house¡±. Just to be clear, the plot of all three - The Next Three Days, Jigra and Savi are entirely different but only the theme of jailbreak remains common.
What are Divya Khossla¡¯s accusations against Jigra makers?
Not to forget, Divya is the wife of Bhushan Kumar whose film Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video has clashed with Jigra at the box office. Well, our wise readers can connect these dots in the meantime. Coming back to the story that blew up everything lately. Khossla shared a picture of a cinema hall and wrote this for Alia:-
¡°Went to Citi Mall PVR for Jigra show. Theatre was totally empty ¡ all theatres going empty everywhere. #Aliabhatt me sach mein Bahut #Jigra hai.. khud hi tickets karide aur fake collections announce kar diye. Wonder why paid media is silent. #weshdnotfooltheaudience.¡±
This was enough to let Karan Johar loose and in no time, he took to Instagram and wrote, ¡°Silence is the best speech you will ever give to fools.¡± If you¡¯re wondering why the film-maker got involved in this, then he is one of the producers of Jigra. The Vasan Bala directorial was bankrolled by Dharma Productions and Alia¡¯s Eternal Sunshine Productions.
While Divya continues to post anything and everything against KJo, Alia and Jigra, feel free to tell us who you think is right in this fiasco @indiatimes.
