Kangana Ranaut-Supriya Shrinate Controversy: Actress' Past Remark About Urmila Matondkar Stirs Debate
Amid Kangana Ranaut and Supriya Shrinate controversy, people remind actress of her own derrogatory comments against Urmila Matondkar. The actress had called her soft porn star.
Kangana Ranaut and Supriya Shrinate controversy is only gaining momentum, it seems. The Bollywood actress who is contesting the Lok Sabha elections 2024 on BJP ticket from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, recently slammed the Congress leader for her derrogatory comment against her. While her supporters are demanding an action against Shrinate, several others have reminded Kangana of her own controversial remark about Urmila Matondkar.
Kangana Ranaut called Urmila Matondkar a "soft porn star"
The comment dates back to 2020. In September 2020, Kangana had said about Urmila Matondkar, "I saw one very derogatory interview given by Urmila Matondkar. The way she was talking about me, pulling faces, making a mockery about my struggles, attacking me on the fact that I am trying to appease BJP for a ticket. One doesn¡¯t have to be a genius to figure that for me it is not very difficult to get a ticket. Urmila is a soft porn star. She is not known for her acting for sure, what is she known for? For doing soft porn right. If she could get a ticket, why wouldn¡¯t I get a ticket?"
Kangana's comment came after Urmila slammed the actress for disrespecting Jaya Bachchan, who had said that the entertainment industry was being "tarnished" in her speech in Parliament.
"When Kangana was not even born, Jaya ji was in the film industry. We're talking about a lady here (Jaya Bachchan) who has herself been an icon. Which part of Indian culture tells you to lash out at people like this," Urmila had told NDTV.
Amid the Kangana Ranaut-Supriya Shrinate controversy, now fans are reminding the Bollywood actress of her own derrogatory comments against Urmila Matondkar. A user wrote, "It is distressing to note how #KanganaRanaut has been demeaned by Supriya Shrinate's handle. It was absolutely gross and good it was deleted. However Kangana should realise and introspect on what all she has done. Calling @UrmilaMatondkar names and alleging that Urmila has been a soft porn movie star speaks about the character and credibility of Kangana Ranaut. #India deserves better."

In the last 20 years of my career as an artist I have played all kinds of women. From a naive girl in Queen to a seductive spy in Dhaakad, from a goddess in Manikarnika to a demon in Chandramukhi, from a prostitute in Rajjo to a revolutionary leader in Thalaivii.¡ pic.twitter.com/GJbhJTQAzW
If a young man gets ticket his ideology is attacked if a young woman gets ticket her sexuality is attacked.

Following this, Kangana told ANI, "Every woman deserves dignity, no matter what profession she is in. The most I am hurt by is the 'Mandi' thing, which is known as Chota Kashi and has been the land of several Rishis."
