34-Year-Old Tamil Television Actor Lokesh Rajendran, Of Marmadesam Fame, Dies By Suicide

Tamil television actor who got popular with serial Marmadesam dies by suicide aged 34. Lokesh Rajendran, best known for his stints as a child artist, is survived by his wife and two children. Lokesh¡¯s character ¡®Raasu¡¯ in ¡®Vidathu Karuppu¡¯, one among the five parts of the mystery anthology ¡®Marmadesam¡¯, is still fresh in the minds of every Tamil television watcher.

Details in police reports suggest that

The actor was addicted to alcohol because of his family problems and was found sleeping at the Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT) on more than one occasion. A case has been filed by police under Section 174 of the CrPC.

¡°On Monday, passers-by at the bus terminus noticed he was in discomfort. Some among them dialled 108 for an ambulance and also alerted the police. He was taken to the Government Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital. He passed away on Tuesday night¡±, a police official was quoted as saying.

Lokesh¡¯s father opened up about his son¡¯s death and revealed,

¡°A month ago, I came to know there was some misunderstanding between them (Lokesh and his wife). Legal notice for divorce came from his wife four days ago. He was depressed. I last saw him (Lokesh) Friday; he said he needed some money and I gave it to him. He had told us he would start work as an editor.¡±

His father further revealed that Lokesh has done more than 150 serials and 15 films with top Tamil actors like Vijayakanth, Prabhu and others. One of his popular works includes the serial Jee Boomba. Recently, the whole cast and crew of ¡®Vidathu Karuppu¡¯ had gathered to celebrate the 25 years of their television series.

Lokesh has also directed one of the short films in the popular Tamil anthology 6 Athiyayam. The anthology comprised six films directed by six different filmmakers. Apart from writing and directing the short film, Lokesh also edited it. Director and producer Suresh Eav took to Twitter to express his condolences.
