¡®Artists Are Easy Targets¡¯, Mahira Khan Shares She Is Still In Touch With Her Bollywood Mates

Pakistan¡¯s popular actress Mahira Khan is awaiting the Indian release of her global blockbuster ¡®The Legend Of Maula Jatt¡¯. The film which also stars Fawad Khan is soon to release on selected screens in northern India. As this will be the first Pakistani film to screen in India after almost a decade, Mahira Khan has her fingers crossed.

Amid the entire fiasco, Mahira has talked about her Bollywood friends and has addressed how artists from any country are ¡®easy targets¡¯.

The Raees actress told Variety, ¡°I had the most amazing time working in India. I am still in touch with so many people and there¡¯s a lot of love there. Unfortunately, we are easy targets, soft targets, whether it¡¯s us here in Pakistan, whether it¡¯s them there in India. Because we¡¯re artists, and we¡¯re connected by that thread of art, we actually get each other.¡±

¡°So we¡¯re trying to look out for each other, more than anything. Even now, we are so careful with what we write on social media. It¡¯s not that we don¡¯t talk to each other. It¡¯s not that we don¡¯t wish each other on our birthdays. It¡¯s not that we don¡¯t meet each other in different countries. It¡¯s not that ¨C it¡¯s just that we are actually not just protecting ourselves but protecting each other,¡± she added.

Mahira names ¡®politics¡¯ as the reason for the differences created between the two ends.

She said, ¡°Unfortunately, it¡¯s politics, it¡¯s not a personal thing. On both ends, until the time that scapegoats are needed, we will always be that¡­ But let¡¯s say that it gets better. Let¡¯s say that there is someone in power who does not use us as easy targets. That would be lovely. Can you just imagine the collaboration? It would be lovely.¡±

Fawad Khan in an earlier interview also talked about his Indian connections and said that he¡¯s on good terms with everyone.

He told Variety, ¡°The political fallout [between India and Pakistan] has not influenced our relationships¡­ I have a great relationship with the people that I¡¯ve worked with and made great friends. I would love to see them again someday, and maybe work with them again. Whether it be for an international platform, a Pakistani platform, or for an Indian platform. Mainstream Bollywood is a different ballgame altogether.¡±
