The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) suspects that the drugs recovered from the ship, owned by Cordelia Cruises, were bought using cryptocurrency on Saturday night. The agency further added that a high-profile drug peddler, Shreyas Nair, was arrested by the NCB in the case on Monday.
He received orders for drugs through the ¡®dark web¡¯ and took payments in Bitcoin.
The NCB on Monday told a city court that "shocking and incriminating" material has been recovered in the WhatsApp chats of Aryan Khan, Merchant, and Dhamecha.
The NCB also claimed that Aryan Khan discussed modes of payment for procurement of drugs and that several code names were used.
¡°Raids are going on now. Shocking and incriminating material recovered in WhatsApp chats of the accused shows international drug trafficking,¡± additional solicitor general Anil Singh, appearing for the NCB, argued.
¡°All the accused persons have to be confronted with each other. The international transactions need to be investigated,¡± he adding that the NCB has arrested a supplier from Juhu and found a commercial quantity of drugs from him.
The 23-year-old, son of actor Shah Rukh Khan, was arrested by the NCB after a raid at a rave party on a cruise ship off the coast of Mumbai.
Based on a tip-off that a party was scheduled on the ship, an NCB team, led by its zonal director Sameer Wankhede, had raided the Goa-bound Cordelia cruise ship on Saturday evening and recovered drugs from some of the passengers.
