Neerja Producer Atul Kasbekar Slams Ahmedabad's 'Rubbish' Crowd For Their Silence, Stirs Debate
Neerja producer Atul Kasbekar slams Ahmedabad's crowd and calls it rubbish for not cheering the Indian cricket team enough during the World Cup 2023 final match against Australia. His tweet has kickstarted a debate online.
Everyone is rattled after India's World Cup 2023 loss in the finals against Australia. While some people are just calling it a bad day and extending support and posting encouraging messages for the Indian Cricket Team which is already under a lot of pressure and feels discouraged, Neerja producer Atul Kasbekar's statement has rubbed many in the wrong way.
Atul Kasbekar calls Ahmedabad's crowd rubbish
After India lost the match, he posted an encouraging tweet. He wrote, "Very proud of our boys. Excellent tournament till the last match. My unequivocal support for the men in blue. We win together. We lose together. We never lose faith. Always #TeamIndia Well played Australia," he wrote.
And then he took a dig at the crowd!
He compared the crow of Gujarat with that of Mumbai's Wankhede stadium
In a tweet on X (formerly called Twitter), he the photographer and filmmaker wrote, "Last word. The Ahmedabad crowd was rubbish Need proper fans inside a stadium instead of fly by night pretenders Like the amazing people at Wankhede Proper fans Cheered the team on and especially Shami post the dropped catch Chanted his name non stop Boosted him and the team Energised them Lifted them when the Kiwis were looking ominous Shami got 7 eventually Last time out in Mumbai for a WC final, we won Choose ur venues wisely."
Atul Kasbekar also shared Pat Cummins statement to support his stance.
Atul then shared Pat Cummins statement in which he said, "There was a sea of blue in the hotel and Stadium. To see 1,30,000 Indian shirts is an experience we'll never forget. The good thing was they weren't too noisy".
While some are criticizing him, others support his stance.
Here's what people are saying.
"The comment by Cummins one day before the match was a perfect psyop. Every time the crowd went silent, it reinforced the message. Absolutely drained the energy, neutralising home advantage. Maybe other venues could¡¯ve countered it, maybe not! We will never know...", a Twitter user wrote referring to Australia captain Pat Cummins statement one day before the match in which he said that "there's nothing more satisfying than hearing a big crowd go silent and that's the aim for us tomorrow."
We¡¯d beat them anywhere in a WC

And have
So¡ ???¡á????¡á?
"KL Rahul hit only one four in 107 balls. Sky and Jadeja together played 50 balls and got just one four. But let's blame the crowd for not cheering on dot balls," said another user.
I agree, Kolkata is a great crowd

As is Chennai
Not watched a game at Bangalore so can¡¯t say
"Stop behaving like Pakistanis who blamed the songs, field, ball, and lack of supporters," wrote another person.
"Should be termed "crowd in Ahmedabad" rather than "Ahmedabad crowd." Not many (if any) locals were in the stadium. Getting tickets for that India-Pak game was way way easier."
"Everything ain't about Mumbai only. Tum ko kaptan, khiladi, stadium aur fan sab Mumbai ka chahiye. Tu bhai Mumbai Indians ka hi match dekha kar."
"Ahmedabad crowd?
What are you talking Atul
People from all over India and abroad were present in the stadium
A person of your stature shouldn't be toolkit member
And why this hate for Ahmedabad crowd and stadium?"
