¡®Making A Sequel Is Like Encashing¡¯, Paresh Rawal Once Revealed Why He Opted Out Of OMG 2
Paresh Rawal once revealed that the reason why he opted out of Akshay's OMG 2 was because he is not a big fan of sequels.
Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal played the role of Kanji Lalji Mehta in Akshay Kumar¡¯s 2012 blockbuster Oh My God! The film was a satirical comedy which also starred Mithun Chakraborty, Om Puri, Govind Namdeo, Poonam Jhawer, Puja Gupta and Mahesh Manjrekar in prominent roles.
When the film¡¯s second part was announced, Paresh Rawal revealed that he has opted out of the sequel.
OMG 2 is being directed by Umesh Shukla and co-stars Pankaj Tripathi, Yami Gautam and Arun Govil are in pivotal roles. Akshay plays the character of Lord Shiva who arrives to rescue his devotee played by Pankaj. The film is all set to arrive in theatres on the 11th of August and will be clashing with Gadar 2 at the box office.
Coming back to Paresh then in an interview with Bollywood Bubble a few years back, Rawal said, ¡°Mujhe nahi lagi kahani achi, I don¡¯t want to be a part of it. Mere liye koi bhi sequel banana, encash karna, mujhe as a character maza nahi aa raha toh, mene bola mein nahi karunga.¡±

When asked what kind of sequels he appreciates, Paresh named Lage Raho Munna Bhai. He said, ¡°Jo hum Hera Pheri mein kar chuke the, it was again (enchasing) abhi toh Neeraj (Vora) nahi raha par encash kyu? Ya toh aap sequel banate hai toh Munna Bhai MMBS jaisi banao, ki ek leap late ho, quantum, Lage Raho Munna Bhai jaisi.¡±
However, Paresh may not be reuniting with Akshay in OMG 2 but he will be seen with him in Hera Pheri 4 also featuring Suniel Shetty.
This one¡¯s also the third sequel of their hit franchise which created quite a stir recently when there were reports of Akshay opting out of the film. Several actors were brought on board but eventually, Khiladi Kumar agreed to play Raju once again and fans are super excited about the film.
Reports suggest that after multiple box office failures, Akshay has reduced his fees.
Last year, Akshay¡¯s all films tanked at the box office that included Bachchan Pandey, Samrat Prithviraj, Raksha Bandhan, Cuttputtli, Ram Setu and Selfiee. Reports suggest that Kumar has charged just Rs 35 crore for ¡®OMG 2¡¯ in comparison to his usual fees of Rs 50-100 crore.
Further in his kitty, Akshay has The Great Indian Rescue, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat and an Untitled remake of Soorarai Pottru.
