Pratik Gandhi Says He Was Humiliated By Police During PM Narendra Modi's Visit In Mumbai

Scam 1992 fame actor Pratik Gandhi recently took to Twitter to share about the humiliating experience he went through in Mumbai. He was getting late for a shoot because Western Express Highway was jammed because of VIP movement, so he decided to walk on the road to reach the location. He claims that Police caught him by the shoulder and pushed him.

He took to Twitter to express his anguish.

Mumbai WEH is jammed coz of ¡°VIP¡± movement, I started walking on the roads to reach the shoot location and Police caught me by shoulder and almost pushed me in some random marble warehouse to wait till without any discussion. #humiliated

While some of his followers agreed with him, there were others who pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on a visit and the Police couldn't have taken any risk.

"Pratik - we live in the society where the common man foots the bill for VVIP + pays the price. The joke is on us," a fan wrote.

"Man, PM Narendra Modi was there. He is under great security risk due to his strong fight against terrorism, foreign funded NGOs and other bad apples. Don't lose patients and behave na?ve. High handedness could be there. Don't make big issue out of it."

"This is regular event in Mumbai.. Get use to it... These leaders are for themselves and not for the people.. You can't even move freely on road without their permission.."

"The jam was near Santacruz so walking till your studio anyways makes no sense as it would hv taken u atleast 2-3 hours. The jam lasted less that 25 mins. Next time ask around before troubling yourself. Am sure your director would hv understood."

For the unversed, Pratik Gandhi is shooting for his next film alongside actress Patralekhaa.

Titled Phule, the movie is based on the lives of noted social reformers Jyotirao Govindrao Phule and his wife Savitribai Phule. Gandhi said it is a "real honour" to showcase the social reformer's legacy to the world through the film.

"Phule is my first biographical film and even though the challenges are huge, given the fact that he was such an inspirational Indian leader; it's also a dream role and I can't wait to get started. I remember saying yes immediately after hearing the narration. Some characters just come to you and I am glad that Ananth sir came to me with this film. It's wonderful that Content Engineers and Dancing Shiva have taken the responsibility of telling an unexplored part of Mahatma Jyotiba and Savitribai Phule's life to the millennials," the 41-year-old actor said.

Patralekhaa said she is certain the film will stay with her "long after it is over".

"I grew up in Shillong, Meghalaya, which boasts of a matriarchal society so gender equality is very close to my heart. Savitribai joined hands with her husband to start the first indigenously-run school for girls in Pune way back in 1848. Mahatma Phule also championed widow remarriage and together they set up an orphanage to prevent infanticide. This is one film that will stay with me long after it is over," the 33-year-old said.
