R Madhavan's Son Vedaant Makes His Dad Proud Once Again, Wins Silver Medal At Danish Open 2022
R Madhavan's son Vedaant who earlier won seven medals for Maharashtra at the junior national aquatic championships in Bengaluru has once again made his father proud by winning a silver medal at Danish Open 2022.
Last year in December, Bollywood actor R Madhavan revealed that his son Vedaant is prepping up for Olympics 2026 and to support him, his family had shifted to Dubai so that he has access to large swimming pools.
Vedaant who earlier won seven medals for Maharashtra at the junior national aquatic championships in Bengaluru has once again made his father proud by winning a silver medal at Danish Open 2022.
Madhavan took to Instagram to share the happy news, "@vedaantmadhavan wins Silver for India at the Danish Open in Copenhagen. Thank you so much Pradeep sir, #swimmingfederationofindia, and #ansadxb for all your efforts. We are so proud."
At the age of 12, he won an international swimming competition in Thailand. His father wrote, "Proud moment for Sarita and I as Vedaant wins his first medal for India in an international swim meet in Thailand today. Thank you for all your blessings ."
At the Junior Nationals Swim meet earlier, he won three golds and a silver medal.
Vedaant had also won silver for India in swimming at the Asian Age Group Swimming Championship.
Did you know R Madhavan's parents wanted him to become an engineer and work for Tata group?
R Madhavan's father Ranganathan Iyengar was a management executive in Tata Steel and his mother, Saroja was a manager in the Bank of India.
"But I knew early on in my life that I did not know what I was going to be, but I did know that I did not want to live a routine life living in Jamshedpur and doing the same thing for 30 years in a row which my father did with so much ease. They (his parents) were distraught, in fact, my dad was driven to tears. And I remember a line where he said, ¡®I wonder what I have done wrong with you,'" he told Curly Tales in an interview.
Madhavan had also rejected the star culture. He said that he is a terrible star and doesn't wear designer clothes.
"I think, also, I was never financially super settled at any given point of time and never allowed myself to be there. That hunger to create what is called a 'star life' has always kept me wanting more. But I have realised I can never live like a star. I'm a terrible star. I don't wear designer clothes, and I can't afford to have people around me all the time. I also realised how you walk at the airport decides how many people mob you and how many people leave you alone. I'm very, very hungry. I don't think I can ever reach a stage where I can say I've made it," he was quoted as saying by Film Companion.
