Ranbir Kapoor has finally opened about why his film Shamshera failed at the box office despite having a stellar cast.
Shamshera, which featured Vaani Kapoor as Ranbir's love interest and Sanjay Dutt as the main antagonist, was a flop at the box office. The film failed to impress the audience as well as critics.
Now, nearly a month after the film's release on July 22, actor Ranbir Kapoor has finally broken his silence over his film Shamshera's disastrous performance at the box office.
During the promotions of Brahmastra, Ranbir was asked about the failure of his last release. Revealing the reason behind the failure of Shamshera, the actor said that his film didn't work because it's content wasn't good.
Dad-to-be and Brahmastra actor Ranbir Kapoor said, "If Shamshera didn¡¯t run at the box office it means the audience didn¡¯t like the film. The film didn¡¯t work because the content wasn¡¯t good."
Moreover, not just Ranbir Kapoor, even Sanjay Dutt, who portrayed the character of Daroga Shuddh Singh in the film, had earlier spoken about the film's disastrous performance at the box office and how the movie was criticized by people who didn¡¯t even go to the theatres to watch it.
¡°Shamshera will find its tribe someday but until it does, I stand resolute with the film, the memories we created, the bond we shared, and the laughs we had. the hardships we went through. I thank the whole unit ¨C cast and crew of the film who stayed with the film for four years,¡± Sanjay Dutt said adding "kuch toh log kahenge" in his long note on social media.
While Shamshera has already flopped, Ranbir Kapoor's upcoming film with wife Alia Bhatt is also on the brink of a following Shamshera's path due to the massive backlash it has been receiving from haters on social media.
Recently, Brahmstra stars Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt along with director Ayan Mukerji visited Ujjain's Mahakaleshwari temple. However, people started to protest against Ranbir as soon as they arrived outside the temple due to his old 'beef guy' comment.
Due to the ruckus at the temple premises, they had to return. Later, Ayan Mukerji went to the Mahakal temple without Ranbir and Alia to offer his prayers ahead of Brahmastra's release on September 9.
