Bollywood Actor Ranveer Singh Reportedly Offered To Play 90's Iconic Superhero Shaktimaan
Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh is keen to portray 90's iconic superhero Shaktimaan, which was earlier enacted by Mukesh Khanna.
Bollywood's most popular Ranveer Singh, who is all set to explore the wild Bear Grylls in the upcoming episode of Ranveer Vs Wild has got another interesting project coming his way.
According to reports, the actor, who has entertained the audience with his stunning portrayal of the tyrant, manipulator and ambitious king Alauddin Khilji in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat, is eyeing to play one of the most iconic roles onscreen and it's none other than 90's children's popular onscreen character Shaktimaan.
Earlier this year, Sony Pictures International and Mukesh Khanna's Bheeshm International jointly announced that the biggest superhero film is going to be made in India.
90s favourite superhero Shaktimaan will be reinterpreted as a franchise and makers have already started the initial work. Reports suggest that the new Shaktimaan series will be a trilogy. Makers have been scouting for an apt cast and there were many speculations regarding the lead character as Mukesh Khanna can¡¯t reprise the role.
Reports by India Today suggest that Ranveer Singh has been offered to play the role of the iconic Indian superhero in the upcoming trilogy.
Moreover, ever since the official announcement of Shaktimaan, Bollywood star, Ranveer Singh¡¯s name came up more than any other actors. And now, it seems the Bajirao Mastani actor will be finally playing the iconic character.
¡°Ranveer has shown a keen interest in playing Shaktimaan, the Indian superhero. The makers too feel that Ranveer can bring a natural charisma to the superhero character, who was first introduced in 1997. Talks are on with the actor and the team,¡± a source close to the film's unit told the news portal.
Meanwhile, makers are currently discussing the project with actor Ranveer Singh and he is yet to officially sign the project.
When Mukesh Khanna Played Shaktimaan Onscreen
For those who are unversed, Mukesh Khanna had enacted the titular character of Shaktimaan and his alter ego Pandit Gangadhar Vidhyadhar Mayadhar Omkarnath Shastri, who works as a photographer for the newspaper Aaj Ki Aawaz.
The Hindi-language superhero television series aired on DD National from 1997 to 2005 and was later in 2011 it was made into an animated series, followed by a movie in 2013.
The actor is currently busy with his upcoming movie Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani also starring Alia Bhatt in the lead role. He is also set to star in Rohit Shetty's upcoming film Cirkus, an untitled film with Shankar, and has many other interesting projects in the pipeline.
