Heeramandi actor Sharmin Segal breaks her silence on ¡®bullying¡¯ Sanjeeda Shaikh allegations
Sharmin Segal faced trolling for allegedly acting in a "disrespectful" manner toward her co-stars. In particular, a lot of talk focused on how she was allegedly "bullying" Sanjeeda Shaikh.
In Heeramandi, Sharmin Segal portrayed Alamzeb, Mallikajaan's younger daughter. She was criticised on social media by some users for being "expressionless," and she later faced trolling for allegedly acting in a "disrespectful" manner towards her co-stars. In particular, a lot of talk focused on how she was allegedly "bullying" Sanjeeda Shaikh during an interview.
In an interview with Times Now, Sharmin Segal addressed these rumours and said, ¡°Again this is something I don't know. What I do know is that my interviews were being taken out of context and some of my co-stars have spoken graciously as to how these interviews were taken out of context. I share a very cordial equation with both Aditi and Sanjeeda. I wish that people would not use 10 second out of context clips to define the relationship I share with them.¡±
When questioned about her remark regarding Meena Kumari's "nothingness" in an interview with Zoom, the actor said that her comments had been misinterpreted and misconstrued as something "negative," something she had never intended to say.
Sharmin said in her recent interview while clarifying her comments, ¡°I don¡¯t know why people are leaving out the sentence that I said which was, ¡®I tried to emulate the way Meena Kumari ji looks into nothingness¡¯ and just extracting the word ¡®nothingness¡¯ from what I said. In no way was I calling Meena Kumariji or her performance in Paakeezah ¡®nothingness¡¯. That is not something I would ever do.¡±
She added, ¡°I was referring to the way she stares into infinity and looks at something celestial that only she can see, whereas in reality there is nothing there. It is just sad how people have literally only picked up one negative word, which wasn¡¯t meant to be negative and taken it out of context. I would also like to make one more thing clear on this issue. I would never compare myself to Meena Kumariji. She is a legend. I was just inspired by her greatness. As an artist, we are always inspired by our surroundings and the people we look up to. It was never a comparison,¡± she added.
