'Taarak Mehta' Actor Dilip Joshi Takes A Trip Down Memory Lane, Recalls His Struggling Days

People might not know who Dilip Joshi is, but almost everyone knows who is Jethalal. The character that the actor plays in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has become a household name. After all, this is the role that made his popular.
Before this, Dilip Joshi has appeared in several movies including Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! in which he essayed the role of Bhola Prasad. Apart from this, he has also featured in movies like Maine Pyar Kiya, Khiladi 420, and Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani among others.

"I started as a backstage artist in the commercial stage. No one used to give me roles. I used to get Rs 50 per role. But the passion to keep doing theatre was there. I didn¡¯t care if it was a backstage role. The big role would come in the future but I just wanted to stick to theatre."
He loved doing theatre, he said. "The live reaction of the audience is priceless. 800 or 1000 people clapping on laughing on your jokes at a time is priceless." Now that he is featuring in the TV show, he says it is difficult to manage doing theatre along with that.
He also said that the quality of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has gone down.
