Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal Takes 'Few Weeks' Of Paternity Leave, Anushka Sharma Wants This Normalised
After reports suggested Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal is taking a few weeks of paternity leave, Anushka Sharma said that it's high time it is normalised.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg had taken two months of paternity leave after the birth of his daughters in 2015 and 2017. Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian had taken 16 weeks of paternity leave in 2017.
Now Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal has taken a few weeks of paternity leave for the birth of his second child.
The micro-blogging site provides a paternity leave of up to 20 weeks for any employee that becomes a new parent. Earlier, only women were given 20 weeks of leaves whereas new fathers would take only 10 weeks off.
A little news: Twitter¡¯s new CEO, @paraga, is expecting his second child and will take paternity leave soon, in contrast to tech leaders like Elon Musk who have downplayed fathers¡¯ role in childcare. https://t.co/V7OUr91cjp

After reports suggested that Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal is taking a few weeks off, Anushka Sharma wrote on her Instagram story, "About time this is normalised."
"It¡¯s a personal decision, and we created a parental leave programme (supporting up to 20 weeks of flexible leave) that is customisable for that reason," Laura Yagerman, head of corporate communications at Twitter, told The Verge.
Anushka Sharma's husband Virat Kohli's paternity leave created quite a buzz, with many questioning ¡°how he could skip national duty". Several others had pointed out that the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) has not been as considerate for every player.
