Vicky Kaushal To Play Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw In Meghna Gulzar's Film, Nails The First Look!
Vicky Kaushal and Meghna Gulzar are reuniting for another another epic tale. The duo officially announced a film on Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. The script will be written by Bhavani Iyer of Raazi fame and Badhaai Ho screenwriter Shantanu Srivastava The film will be backed and produced by Ronnie Screwala who had also produced Uri-The Surgical Strike.
It's the best time for cinema lovers in India today because there are such great and brave stories that are being told by makers. After Raazi, Vicky Kaushal and Meghna Gulzar are reuniting for another another epic tale. The duo officially announced a film on Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw.
Sam Hormusji Framji Jamshedji Manekshaw was the first Indian Army officer to be promoted to the rank of Field Marshal. He is popularly known as Sam Bahadur (Sam the brave). Not many know that he was also popular for his wit and straight-talking nature.
He was trained in the first batch of the Indian Military Academy in 1932.
He earlier wanted to be a doctor, just like his father. He took part in five wars for the country - World War II, 1947 Indo-Pak War, 1962 Indo-China War, 1965 Indo-Pak War and 1971 Indo-Pak War.
Political leadership never affected him and reports claim that he once allegedly told VK Menon to refrain from asking officers what they thought about their seniors.
In 1971, when Indira Gandhi asked him ¡°General are you ready?¡± (for war), he replied: ¡°I am always ready sweetie¡±.

Both Vicky and Meghna took to Instagram to share his first look and the team has managed to strike gold as it is as perfect as it could get.
Vicky took to Instagram to write,
"I feel honoured, emotional and proud of getting a chance to unfold the journey of this fearless patriot, the swashbuckling general, the first Field Marshal of India- SAM MANEKSHAW. Remembering him on his death anniversary today and embracing the new beginnings with @meghnagulzar and #RonnieScrewvala"
Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, Meghna Gulzar confirmed the film and said,

"We will start shooting in 2021, which is good for all of us because it needs that much prep time as we have the Partition, accession of Kashmir and the 1971 Indo-Pak war to cover in the narrative."
Kaushal told Mirror that to get into the skin of his character, he will interact with people who knew Manekshaw closely, go through material on him and watch his videos.
