"I Don't Work With Mediocre Actors": Vivek Agnihotri On Why He Casts Wife Pallavi In Every Film
Vivek Agnihotri opens up on why his wife Pallavi Joshi is there in his every other film. The filmmaker calls her a veteran and not mediocre.
Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri is all set to arrive with his upcoming film The Vaccine War. His wife Pallavi Joshi is an established actor and very recently has starred in Vivek¡¯s multiple directorials. Be it The Tashkent Files, The Kashmir Files or the upcoming The Vaccine War and The Delhi Files.
In a recent interview, Vivek was asked about the reason why he casts Pallavi so frequently and his answer will intrigue you.
He told Republic World, ¡°I don¡¯t cast mediocre actors. I cast National Award-winning actors. Pallavi is a great actress and that is why she finds a place in my film. Moreover, she is a senior to me in the industry. She brings dimensions and dynamics to the character which my writing does not provide.¡±
¡°She is smart and intelligent and it is always fun to work with intelligent actors.¡±
In the same conversation, Agnihotri talked about his upcoming film and said, ¡°It is one of the most difficult films I have ever made or will ever make. It is based on difficult and complex science. We had to create visibility out of invisible stuff. Everything around the film was so difficult and I had to make it so simple that even an uneducated Indian Woman can also understand it.¡±
¡°I think we have been able to achieve that.¡±
This medical thriller is based on the true story of the development of Covaxin during the Covid-19 pandemic in India. Other than Pallavi, the film features Nana Patekar, Raima Sen, Anupam Kher, Nivedita Bhattacharya, Sapthami Gowda and Mohan Kapur. It will arrive in theatres on September 28, 2023.
Recently, Vivek slammed media houses for not mentioning his film in the list of this year¡¯s most-anticipated film.
In an interview with News18, Vivek said, ¡°If you take a look at the list of upcoming films and the most anticipated releases put forth by news channels and newspapers, none of them include The Vaccine War. Since the last nine months, people have been aware that we¡¯re making this film.¡±
¡°This morning, an eminent trade analyst sent me one such list of the expected films of this month and they stated that the next big hit will be another film that¡¯s also releasing on September 28. That list of releases didn¡¯t even include the name of our film as if we don¡¯t even exist.¡±
He concluded, ¡°If we don¡¯t exist, how will anyone even finance our film? Aise situation mein kua khud khodna padhta hai aur paani nikalna padhta hai."
