It is the second suspected Islamist extremist attack in France in less than two weeks. The attacker was wounded by police and thereafter hospitalised in life-threatening condition after the killings at the Notre Dame Basilica.
The film industry has also reacted strongly to the shocking incident and condemned the attack.
While some paid their condolences to the deceased, others said that killing was not okay.
You can't kill. Period.

Within hours of this incident, the Police killed a man who threatned a passerby with a handgun. He was also shouting Allahu Akbar reportedly.
President Emmanuel Macron said he would immediately increase the number of soldiers deployed to protect schools and religious sites from around 3,000 to 7,000.
