Despite Knowing Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 Will Be A Super Hit, Divyenndu Sharmaa Rejected The Film
Divyenndu Sharmaa says he didn't want to play safe and rather take risks in his acting career.
Divyenndu Sharmaa gained fame with his very first film Pyaar Ka Punchnama. His character Liquid become lovable overnight. However, the audience was deeply disappointed to not see Divyenndu in the second part. But the actor has no regrets of rejecting the sequel as he wanted to explore himself and not play safe.
His next film is Batti Gul Meter Chalu which deals with the electricity scarcity issue in small towns. Divyenndu plays a prominent character in the film along with Shahid and Shraddha Kapoor. Indiatimes had an exclusive conversation with the talented actor where he spoke his heart out with us.
Divyenndu On Rejecting Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2
"The makers wanted me to become a part of Pyaar Ka Punchama 2 because Liquid was such a hit character, but I wanted to play different characters, my whole aim is to be different whenever I come on stage or screen. I didn¡¯t want to particularly be a part of one genre, I wanted to explore and stand somewhere as an actor. My director, Luv really understood my reason for saying no to the film.¡±
Don¡¯t Want To Play Safe
He further added, ¡° I always knew Pyaar Ka Punchama 2 will be a super hit and it will become a very big franchise but even after knowing all this I said no to it which shows that I have some guts as an artist. But as an actor, I have no regrets about not being a part of it because I am not here to play safe, do stuff which is more commercial.¡±
No Big Star Can Guarantee A Hit Today
Divyenndu, who was seen as a second lead in Toilet Ek Prem Katha and now Batti Gul meter Chalu, feels audience comes to watch good content driven films and not actors, ¡° In today¡¯s time audience don¡¯t come to watch a film because it has a particular actor, they come because they like the story of it, audiences resonate with story and characters and Stree is a very big example of it. Today no big actors can guarantee that their film will be a super hit because they are a part of it. My first film Pyaar Ka Punchama was an underdog and see where it is today.¡±

Nepotism Exists But There Is No Guarantee You Will Survive
"I don¡¯t have an opinion about the whole nepotism thing, it¡¯s there and you can¡¯t really do much about it. But yes our industry is very result oriented if people like you they like you and if they don¡¯t, they won¡¯t. Just because you come from some big family it¡¯s not necessary they will accept you.
But yes having a strong family background it gives you an edge and the kind of big launch you want however there is no guarantee that you will survive. It¡¯s really unfortunate there are many people who are not getting the opportunity due to star kids. I want that everyone should get chances on their merit. The best thing is that today the audiences are aware of nepotism and they will not just accept you because you are so and so son and daughter."
Struggle Is A Part Of An Artist¡¯s Life
"I had my share of struggle, when I came to Bombay I struggled for 3 years, but yes I feel fortunate that I got a role like Liquid in Pyaar Ka Punchama. But the struggle is still there, earlier there was a struggle to get films and today the struggle is to get better films and better characters, that¡¯s the life of an artist."
Not Insecure Or Jealous of Kartik Aryan¡¯s Success
We quizzed Divyenndu if he feels jealous about his co-star Kartik Aryan as he has achieved a huge success compared to him and he had the best reply, ¡°I chose this path very consciously, even I would have been a part of Pyaar Ka Punchama 2, I would have reached places, but I want to be brave with my choices, I don¡¯t want to play safe, I want to take risks in my career an when you take risks you cannot expect the result will always be good, I am taking a less known road and I am very happy about it.¡±
