Who is organising the auction?
Following the conclusion of the programme, Left Bank Pictures, which produced it, will auction off props and gowns from all six series.
The proceeds from the auction will go towards the establishment of the Left Bank Pictures¡ªThe Crown Scholarship programme at the National Film and Television School (NFTS). Bonhams, a London-based auction house, will organise the auction.
Where will the auction be held?
The auction will be held in two parts. The first will be a live sale of around 150 pieces on February 7, 2024, at Bonhams, New Bond Street, London. This will be followed by a 300-lot online auction. The online auction will take place on bonhams.com from January 30 to February 8.
What all can you do except at the auction?
According to Bonhams, the auction will feature "close to 450 props, furniture, and costumes¡ªincluding those inspired by Queen Elizabeth's Coronation Robes and Princess Diana's 'Revenge dress'¡ªfrom all six series of The Crown."
The classic 'Revenge dress' replica is expected to fetch ?8,000¨C12,000 (about Rs 8 lakh to Rs 12 lakh). The reproduction of Number 10 Downing Street's exterior and front entrance is worth between ?20,000 and ?30,000 (about Rs 20 lakh to Rs 31 lakh). A copy of Buckingham Palace's famed wrought-iron gates can fetch ?6,000¨C8,000 (roughly Rs 6 lakh to 8 lakh).
The Queen's Coronation ordaining dress, Imperial Mantle, and red Coronation robe can be purchased for between ?20,000 and ?30,000 (about Rs 20 lakh to Rs 31 lakh). The show also produced the only replica of the Gold State Coach in the world. This is estimated to sell for between ?30,000 and ?50,000 (about Rs 31 lakh and Rs 52 lakh).
How will the auction proceedings be used?
Overall, the sale is expected to boost the NFTS scholarship programme significantly.
