The creater of the Japanese animated series died of acute subdural hematoma, a type of bleeding near the brain. Dragon Ball Z¡¯s official X (formerly known as Twitter) account confirmed the news on March 7. "We are deeply saddened to inform you that Manga creator Akira Toriyama passed away on March 1st due to acute subdural hematoma," the statement read mentioning the condition where blood collects between the skull and the surface of the brain.
For the unversed, the Dragon Ball manga series made its first appearance in 1984 narrating the adventures of a young protagonist named Son Goku. His mission revolved around gathering mystical dragon balls to protect Earth from the threat posed by Saiyans, extraterrestrial humanoids.
