All We Imagine As Light lost to Emilia P¨¦rez which is a musical thriller starring Zoe Saldana, Karla Sof¨ªa Gascon, Selena Gomez, Adriana Paz, Mark Ivanir, and Edgar Ram¨ªrez. Many people flocked to social media after the announcement to say that the selection was 'not right' and that Payal Kapadia's film should have won.

Payal Kapadia is the writer and director of the 2024 drama film All We Imagine as Light. Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, Chhaya Kadam, and Hridhu Haroon are among the cast members. It was an international co-production with companies from France, India, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Italy, and it had dialogue in Malayalam, Hindi, and Marathi.
