Announcing that he is quitting The Daily Show, Trevor Noah said, "After the seven years, my time is up, but in the most beautiful way, honestly. I've loved hosting this show. It's been one of my greatest challenges. I have learned how to make people laugh even when the stories are particularly sh***y on many days. We laughed together and cried together... But after seven years I feel like it's time."

He said that during the pandemic and lockdown, he was able to do stand-comedy and that is what made him return to the career.

As he made the announcement, audience gave him a standing ovation.

For the unversed, The Daily Show first started premiering in 1996. At that time, Craig Kilborn was the host. Jon Stewart, who is now 59 years old, took over from him in 1999 and continued until 2015, when he handed the reigns to Noah.
