The Tamil star passed away on the night of November 9th at the age of 80 and his last rites are scheduled to take place on November 10. In an official statement, Ganesh's family said, "We deeply regret to inform you that our father Mr Delhi Ganesh passed away on 9th November at around 11 PM.¡±
How did Delhi Ganesh die?
Delhi Ganesh¡¯s son Mahadevan revealed that his father was undergoing treatment for quite some time now and passed away due to old age-related complications and ill health. He continued as per The Week, "Last night when we tried to give him a tablet, he did not respond. A doctor confirmed that he was dead.¡± His mortal remains will be kept in Chennai¡¯s Ramapuram until they leave for his rites.
What is the story behind Delhi Ganesh¡¯s name?
Born as Ganesan on August 1, 1944, this Tamil Nadu-born used to serve in the Indian Air Force from 1964 to 1974. He was always passionate about acting so for the next two years, he worked on his skills in a Delhi-based theatre group Dakshina Bharata Natak Sabha. This is why when he was about to debut on the big screen with Pattina Pravesam (1976), the film¡¯s director K. Balachander suggested he carry forward his Delhi connection in his name.
