Janhvi Kapoor Reveals The Story Behind Her Name, Says Sridevi Was Obsessed With Its Meaning
In a recent interaction with Filmfare, Janhvi Kapoor revealed the story behind her name and how Sridevi was obsessed with the idea of its meaning which is, purity.
Janhvi Kapoor is often compared to her mom, the iconic late actress Sridevi. On more than one occasions, Janhvi has left the internet amazed at how she looks like a spitting image of the late actress.
Sridevi breathed her last in February 2018 and her sudden death came as a shock to the entire nation. The same year, Janhvi made her Bollywood debut with Dhadak and fans couldn't help but think about their favourite actress.
In a recent interaction with Filmfare, Janhvi Kapoor revealed the story behind her name and how Sridevi was obsessed with the idea of its meaning which is, purity.
Talking about the same, Janhvi said, "I think mom was really obsessed with the idea that the meaning of it was purity and she would keep looking at me and keep telling me that I look pure and pure soul and things like that. So I feel it really resonated with her in that sense.¡±
The actress was also asked if her name was after Urmila Matondkar's character in the film Judaai. Responding to this, the actress said, "No, I was not named after Urmila¡¯s character in Judaai. I think dad just really liked the name from before the film and mom did too."
Talking about her fans saying that she reminds them of Sridevi, Janhvi said that she 'feels good' when such comments are passed but its 'also logical as they have the same genes'. She added, "But it means a lot. I think that I get so happy when I see so much of my mom in my sister and I like to think that it¡¯s vice versa too so to me, it¡¯s comforting and obviously very flattering."
Janhvi was last seen playing a leading role in horror-comedy Roohi. Released as a sequel to the 2018 surprise-hit Stree, Roohi revolved around the story of a spirit who haunts a small town and its people. Janhvi's performance in the film had left her fans impressed and her killer dance moves in the song Nadiyon Paar from the film were worth a watch.
