Dive into the heart of Mismatched Season 3 as Rohit Saraf and Prajakta Koli exclusively talk to Indiatimes about the fan-fueled laughs, emotional bonds, and dreams for their characters Dimple and Rishi.
When the third season of Mismatched dropped, it was as if an invisible chord of love, joy, and emotion strummed through the hearts of fans everywhere. The internet lit up with memes, fan fiction, edits, and declarations of love for the characters who have become so deeply ingrained in the lives of viewers.
For Rohit Saraf (The Sky is Pink, Ishq Vishq Rebound) and Prajakta Koli (Jugjugg Jeeyo, Neeyat), the lead cast of this extraordinary journey, this isn¡¯t just a show¡ªit¡¯s a love letter to the fans. We caught up with the duo in an exclusive conversation with Indiatimes about the fans' frenzy and how they are soaking all in - the love, the laughter and the heartbreaks the latest season has given to fans!
The creative clan of Mismatched fans are unmissable
¡°You know, when you see the kind of love people are showing, it¡¯s surreal,¡± Rohit begins, his voice carrying a hint of disbelief mixed with pride. ¡°I came across this one fan theory that Rishi isn¡¯t into Dimple at all, but rather her mother, Simple. It¡¯s hilarious. Then there¡¯s this fan edit Prajakta showed me¡ªit calls Dimple a walking red flag and Rishi colourblind. It¡¯s these little things that make you realise how invested the audiences are with our narrative.¡±
Prajakta adds with a smile, ¡°The creativity fans bring is incredible. There¡¯s this AI edit we saw¡ªit started with Dimple and Rishi¡¯s Haldi and Sangeet, then moved to their wedding, reception, and¡ them expecting a child. Honestly, the end of that edit, with this very strange-looking child, had me disturbed but also laughing. It¡¯s overwhelming in the best way possible to see how much people care.¡±
What future holds for Dimple and Rishi?
When asked about their hopes for tomorrow, Rohit and Prajakta¡¯s voices take on a dreamy, wistful tone. "Five years and three seasons in, we hope for what the fans hope," Rohit says. "A happy, thriving relationship, where they¡¯re together in both their professional and personal lives."
Prajakta, ever the realist, adds, "It¡¯s only happy when it¡¯s turbulent. That¡¯s just who they are¡ªmismatched and magical."
The stars share that this love and engagement is not lost on the creators or the cast. ¡°Fans call us Dimshi,¡± Rohit chuckles. ¡°That wasn¡¯t even a name we came up with; it was given to us by them. And in season three, there¡¯s a moment where we nod to it¡ªit¡¯s fan service, a small way of saying, ¡®We see you, we hear you, and we are grateful.¡¯¡±
Mismatched is not JUST for the Gen-Z
For a show built on the complexities of love, friendship, and growing up, Mismatched has struck a chord across generations. Rohit and Prajakta¡¯s portrayal of Rishi and Dimple has given audiences not just entertainment, but characters they can relate to on a personal level. ¡°Rishi and Dimple are not just characters,¡± Rohit explains during our chat ¡°They are mirrors for so many people. When fans write to us saying they feel seen, understood, and less alone because of the show, it¡¯s humbling. It¡¯s what makes all the hard work worth it.¡±
¡°Absolutely,¡± Prajakta nods. ¡°What¡¯s beautiful is that the show doesn¡¯t sensationalise. It normalises the challenges and joys of relationships. My mom watched the show and said the nuances in the relationships felt relatable to her too. That¡¯s what makes Mismatched special¡ªit¡¯s not just Gen Z¡ªit¡¯s universal. It¡¯s a celebration of human connection.¡±
The actors¡¯ connection with their characters is undeniable. ¡°I can¡¯t disassociate from Rishi anymore,¡± Rohit admits. ¡°He¡¯s someone I¡¯ve nurtured over the years. When fans say something about Rishi, I feel it personally. If they criticise him, it hurts me. That¡¯s how intertwined our journeys have become.¡±
¡°Same here,¡± Prajakta agrees. ¡°I¡¯ve spent five years with Dimple, growing with her, understanding her. She¡¯s become a part of me. When the lines blur between real and reel, it¡¯s both challenging and beautiful.¡±
Mismatched is a love letter to fans and vice versa
Asked about any other pair they were simping for on the show, Rohit shares, ¡°I¡¯m obsessed with Zeenat (Vidya Malvade) and Sid (Rannvijay Singha)¡¯s story. It¡¯s so real and beautiful. I want them to end up together and host Eid parties for all of us. Their love feels tangible, like people you know and root for.¡±
As the interview draws to a close, the duo¡¯s message to their fans is clear. ¡°Mismatched is a labour of love,¡± Prajakta says. ¡°It¡¯s our love letter to you. Thank you for embracing it, for living it, and for making it yours.¡±
Rohit smiles, his voice tinged with emotion. ¡°You are the heart of this story. Your love fuels us, your engagement inspires us, and your belief in Rishi and Dimple reminds us why storytelling matters. This isn¡¯t just our journey. It¡¯s yours too.¡±
As the credits roll on season three, one thing is clear: Mismatched is more than a story. It¡¯s a love letter¡ªto the fans, to the cinema, and the beautiful chaos of life and love. Here¡¯s hoping the journey continues, with all its turbulence and triumphs, its heartbreaks and happy endings.
Mismatched Season 3 is streaming on Netflix and has been trending in over 9 countries with songs like Ishq Hai emerging as undisputed chartbusters!
