Baba Siddique, Salman Khan, Sidhu Moose Wala and more: Which celebrities did Lawrence Bishnoi gang target and why?

Baba Siddique¡¯s unfortunate demise has left the entire country shocked. The NCP leader was shot dead on October 12 in Mumbai's Bandra area by three armed miscreants who later confessed to having been driven by the motives of the Bishnoi gang. This dreaded group of people led by jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi has targeted several celebrities over the last few years and has even openly confessed to the crime while revealing their reason.

Just a quick recap, between 2010 and 2012, Lawrence Bishnoi was involved in several criminal activities in Chandigarh which led to multiple FIRs against him. He was acquitted in four of the seven cases filed, with three still ongoing. His gang is infamously involved in criminal activities like extortion, murder, and drug trafficking.

Despite being locked inside Gujarat's Sabarmati Central Jail, Lawrence¡¯s motives are allegedly executed by his partner-in-crime Goldy Brar who is currently on the run.

Here¡¯s a list of celebrities targeted by Lawrence Bishnoi gang and why:-

1. Baba Siddique

In a long Facebook post shared by a member of the Bishnoi gang on October 13, Baba¡¯s bond with actor Salman Khan was used as an excuse for his murder. A part of the note read, ¡°Salman Khan, we did not want this war but you made our brother lose his life. The reason for Baba¡¯s death was his links to Dawood and Anuj Thapan in Bollywood, politics, and property dealings. We have no personal enmity with anyone. However, anyone who helps Salman Khan or the Dawood gang should be prepared.¡±

2. Salman Khan

Actor Salman Khan remains on Bishnoi's radar, and this enmity dates back to 1998. Khan, during the shooting of his film Hum Saath Saath Hain, reportedly hunted a blackbuck, an animal worshipped by the Bishnoi community. Despite a long-run legal case against Salman in which he was eventually acquitted, Lawrence Bishnoi demanded the actor visit their village and ask forgiveness from the local deity.

The gangster claims that because the Dabangg actor hasn¡¯t done the same in all these years, they are behind his life issuing several threats and even opening fire at his Bandra residence earlier in April. In a 1,735-page chargesheet filed by the Mumbai crime branch in July 2024, even Salman Khan acknowledged Bishnoi trying their best to harm him and his family.

3. Sidhu Moose Wala

This was one of those crimes by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang that had alerted the officials to a national level. Sidhu Moose Wala was a popular Punjabi singer and music producer who was shot dead by Bishnoi-Brar gang shooters in broad daylight on May 29, 2022. Lawrence claimed that his gang suspected Sidhu¡¯s involvement in the murder of Akali leader Vikramjit Singh (Vicky Middukhera) and that¡¯s why killed him.

4. Gippy Grewal

Similar to Baba Siddique, Punjabi musician Gippy Grewal was also targeted because of his closeness with Salman Khan. In November 2023, shots were fired at the singer¡¯s house in Canada's Vancouver by the Bishnoi gang shooters who later publicly claimed its responsibility. They noted in their Facebook post, ¡°You consider Salman Khan a brother, but now it's time for your 'brother' to come and save you. You've now landed on our radar. Flee to any country you wish, but remember, death doesn't require a visa; it comes uninvited.¡±

5. AP Dhillon

Again a Salman Khan connect - this rising Punjabi star was also targeted by the Bishnoi gang just because he made a song Old Money featuring Salman Khan. Rounds of firing were opened on September 1, 2024, outside AP Dhillon's house in Vancouver and Rohit Godara, Bishnoi¡¯s right hand detailed the reason in a Facebook post.

"Salman Khan is featured in your songs, and you flaunt your actions. The underworld life you emulate is the life we live. Stay in your place, or you will meet a dog's death,¡± an excerpt of his long note read.

6. Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi

Gogamedi was a prominent Hindu leader and president of Karni Sena who was killed by the shooters in his own house on December 5, 2023. Rohit Godara claimed responsibility for it and wrote on Facebook, ¡°I want to tell you that he used to help our enemies, thus strengthening them. As far as our enemies are concerned, they should keep their bier ready at the doorstep of their house. We will soon meet them too.¡±

7. Sukhdool Singh Gill

Sukhdool alias Sukha Duneke who was a Khalistani separatist was gunned down by Lawrence Bishnoi's shooters in September 2023. He was also wanted by the National Investigation Agency because of his links with pro-Khalistan terrorists, in Canada¡¯s Winnipeg. While claiming responsibility for his death, the Bishnoi gang wrote, ¡°Sukhdool had murdered our brother Gurlal Brar and was also behind the killing of Vicky Middukhera as well as kabaddi player Sandeep Ambian.¡±

Several cases have been filed against the members of the Bishnoi gang which has over 700 shooters across 11 Indian states.
