But, on its opening day, the Telugu action film "Rathnam" faced stiff competition at the box office, being overshadowed by the impressive performances of "Aavesham" and the re-release of the classic "Ghilli." Despite high expectations and a strong promotional push, "Rathnam" struggled to capture the audience's attention in Tamil Nadu, where both "Aavesham" with its robust advance booking and "Ghilli" with its nostalgic appeal drew larger crowds.

Storyline Of Rathnam:
In "Rathnam," Vishal plays the role of a devoted aide to Chittoor MLA Panneer Swamy, portrayed by Samuthirakani. His life takes a dramatic turn when he encounters Mallika (played by Priya Bhavani Shankar) and finds himself embroiled in a dangerous game of cat and mouse as he discovers that a group of ruthless goons are after her life. What follows is a high-octane narrative of Rathnam's quest to protect Mallika at all costs.
If we go by review on X (formerly Twitter), Vishal's performance stands out as he effortlessly portrays the gritty protagonist, particularly in action sequences. His commanding presence and robust body language anchor the film, making his portrayal memorable. Priya Bhavani Shankar and Samuthirakani also put forth solid performances, adding depth to the storyline.
However, "Rathnam" is not without its flaws. Many critics and X users have also pointed out that Hari's storytelling, which is usually strong, seems lacking as the film progresses with a predictable template that fails to engage at times. The narrative struggles to maintain pace, interspersed with dull moments that drag the plot along. Additionally, the second half of the movie becomes monotonous, with relentless action scenes that lack the drama needed to balance the storyline, leading to viewer fatigue.
Actor Vishal's Controversy
Vishal made headlines earlier this year when he accused a Central Board of Film Certification official in public of stealing more than Rs 6 lakh from him in order to get the Hindi version of "Mark Antony" released in theaters.

Talking about the problem, he wrote, "#Corruption being shown on silver screen is fine. But not in real life. Can't digest. Especially in govt offices. And even worse happening in #CBFC Mumbai office. Had to pay 6.5 lacs for my film #MarkAntonyHindi version. 2 transactions. 3 Lakhs for screening and 3.5 Lakhs for certificate."
"Never faced this situation ever in my career. Had no option but to pay the concerned mediator #Menaga coz too much at stake since movie released today. Bringing this to the notice of Hon Chief Minister of Maharashtra and my Hon PM Narendra Modiji. Doing this is not for me but for future producers. NOT HAPPENING. My hard earned money gone for corruption ??? No way. Evidence down for all to hear. Hope truth prevails as always. GB," he added.
Hari Talks About Rathnam Plot
He told Hindu, "Priya Bhavani Shankar¡¯s role in this film is of utmost importance. Apart from her character, Priya, as an artist, also had a lot of challenges in this film. She pulled off a single-shot scene, 300 feet in film length, involving a lot of movement and filled with dialogue brilliantly. I¡¯ve assisted K Balachander sir and he is known for rightly positioning the artists in lengthy shots. Positioning, especially in such long shots, is of much importance, and the actor should be talented enough to pull it off. The fact that Priya can do all of that and knows the language makes it perfect."
He also went on to add that he is glad to see Vishal's growth, "I think I¡¯ve been the same and I¡¯m glad that I¡¯m getting work ¡ª which I believe I¡¯ve been doing well. It¡¯s nice to see the growth of Vishal, both business-wise and how he has gained an audience even in the north. Character-wise, he has always been the same. He¡¯s light-hearted, easy to work with, and likes to keep everyone around him at the sets happy."
Director Hari talks possibilities of Singam 4
He said as per OTTPlay, "I am not sure how the fourth part in the Singam 4 would be. I would love to do a cop story again and I am working on the story. I will begin with its screenplay after Rathnam, but I am not sure if it will be Singam 4. I am not sure how a fourth part would be after doing three films together in a franchise. I feel a hattrick would be perfect. I am not very much into tapping the franchise name and do another film altogether differently. I don't want to cash in on the franchise name.¡±
