Rekhachithram box office collection day 1: Asif Ali¡¯s Rekhachithram, which hit the screens on January 9, has opened to a good response at the Indian box office despite releasing amid limited fanfare. The film also received positive reviews with critics praising the performances and the screenplay. This is the second major Malayalam movie of the year after Tovino Thomas¡¯ Identity, which opened in theatres on January 2.

Rekhachithram makes a decent impact at the box office

Rekhachithram, starring Asif Ali, is off to a good start at the box office. According to Sacnilk, a trade website, the thriller earned Rs 2 crore (nett) in India on the first day. The film received encouraging reviews, which worked in its favour.

It, however, faced competition from the Unni Mukundan-led Marco. The action thriller remains a force to reckon with even three weeks after its premiere in theatres.

Rekhachithram is set to face stiff competition from Ram Charan's Game Changer, which arrived in theatres today (January 10). It remains to been if it is able to hold its own against the pan-India film in the days to come.

Rekhachithram is an investigative thriller, directed by Jofin T Chacko of The Priest fame. It centres on a disgraced cop who unravels a dark secret while investigating a decades-old case. It features Asif Ali in the role of a cop and is his first release of the year. The cast includes Anaswara Rajan, Siddique, Indrans, and Sai Kumar.
