Sun TV Fined Rs 2.5 Lakh For Showing Vulgar Rape Scene In A TV Serial, Asked To Air Apology For A Week
After a lot of complaints over a couple episodes of TV show Kalyana Veed which showed a woman graphically explaining to four henchman as to how gangrape her own sister, the Broadcasting Content Complaints Council (BCCC) has imposed a fine of Rs. 2.5 lakh on Sun TV, the channel on which the show is aired.

With that, BCCC has also asked the channel to run an apology before every episode for seven days ¨C from Sep 23 to Sep 28. It is said that the complaints were raised on the episode of the show that aired between May 14 and 15.
The complainants, according to a report on The Hindu, have claimed that the scenes would encourage atrocities against women, especially when the show is watched by millions.
After receiving complaints, BCCC examined the video clips and came down a conclusion that the content indeed violated the guidelines by Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF) guidelines, which bars content that glorifies violence.

Furthermore, a notice has been issued to the channel. They have also been called for a hearing. Later, they apologised and agreed to the decision taken by the council. Henceforth, a 30-second video with apology will be aired on the channel before the show.
